Semester start Autumn 2026 – Master’s Programme in Product Design

Welcome to OsloMet! Here you will find all you need to know about starting your studies. 

Mandatory attendance 11 August

It is mandatory to attend the first day of class, as you will be registering on this day. If you do not attend, your admission to study will be revoked.  

Programme 11 August:

  • 11.00: OsloMet’s Welcome Ceremony at Kjeller campus 
  • 11.45: Lunch at the Department of Product Design, room H105 
  • 12.15: The Department of Product Design’s own Welcome Ceremony, including the mandatory registration, room H105 
  • 13.00: Information about the study programme and related matters by the course coordinator, room H105 
  • 14.15: Start of the buddy programme

Mandatory HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) course/preparatory course for everyone who has not got a recent Bachelor from Product Design at OsloMet.

If you have your educational background from outside the department of Product Design at OsloMet, you will have to attend a mandatory HSE course from August 3rd to August 7th.

If you are studying Product design and culture the course in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) will ensure that you are certified to use all our workshop facilities and machines.

If you are studying Design for healthcare and wellbeing or System and service design there will be a preparatory course for some of our workshops.

Times for the courses:

Monday August 3rd from 9 am to 3 pm, auditorium E111, and Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th from 9 am to 4 pm. More information will be given on the first day. 

Please note that these courses are mandatory. 

Remember to bring an ID card to acquire an access card. Please note that you will also be required to take part in the first day of the semester on August 11th.

Have you accepted your offer? 

You must accept the offer of admission in Søknadsweb within the given deadline. Please get in touch with opptak@oslomet.no as soon as possible if you have accepted your offer, but are unable to participate in the programme. Remember to include your application number in the email.

Access to OsloMet's systems  

OsloMet creates a user account for you. You will receive an email from us with information about how to activate your account and get access to the systems, tools and services you need. This is sent to you automatically in the weeks before the semester starts.

Use the Mine studier app to get an overview of your timetable, courses, semester start checklist and notifications. You can also create personal shortcuts to the tools and services you use in your studies.

Not able to attend the first day 

If you are not able to attend the first day due to illness or other compelling reasons, you must apply for a postponed study start. Please send an application to infosenter-tkd@oslomet.no. Include:   

  • Complete name  
  • Study programme
  • Date for when you will be able to attend.        

Applying for exemption 

You can apply for exemption from a course or an examination if you have already passed an equivalent course/examination. It is not possible to apply for exemption before you start your studies.
