Innledning

After completing the course, the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence: 

Knowledge 

The student 

  • can identify suitable methods for a selected issue
  • can discuss strengths and weaknesses of qualitative and quantitative methods

Skills

  • can plan the collection of qualitative and/or quantitative data
  • can apply the most important methods used in qualitative and quantitative research
  • can assess/discuss research ethics issues
  • can register and use quantitative data in statistics programs
  • can critically interpret the results of qualitative and quantitative analyses
  • can analyse quantitative data and develop systematic presentations of results, including in the form of tables and figures
  • can analyse and present qualitative data, such as different kinds of text material

General competence  

The student 

  • can decide which analysis methods are suitable for answering given questions
  • can communicate the importance of qualitative and quantitative research results

Forkunnskapskrav

The following must have been approved in order for the student to take the examination:

  • An oral presentation in groups of up to four students, subject to given criteria
  • A peer assessment of a written assignment and/or a presentation in groups of up to four students, subject to given criteria

Læringsutbytte

A calculator prepared by the university is the only permitted examination aid. 

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer

All examination papers are assessed by two examiners. A minimum of 20% of the examination papers will be assessed by an external examiner. The external examiner’s assessment should benefit all students.

Arbeidskrav og obligatoriske aktiviteter

10 studiepoeng overlapp med MAPSD4300/4310 Forskningsmetoder i psykisk helsearbeid, 10 stp.

Vurdering og eksamen

Semesteroppgave med et omfang på 5000 ord (+/- 10%). Skrifttype og skriftstørrelse: Arial / Calibri 12pkt. Linjeavstand: 1,5. Den skriftlige oppgaven kan skrives individuelt eller i gruppe på to studenter, etter avtale med emneansvarlig.

En student kan ved ikke bestått levere omarbeidet versjon av oppgaven til sensur én gang.

Vurderingsuttrykk

The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner. At least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.

Opptakskrav

The course has two compulsory activities:

1. Active participation in mini-practical training (Minipraksis).

2. Skills training in communication (Dialog seminar).

The attendance requirement for compulsory teaching activities is 80% and active participation. If a student's absence exceeds 20%, a comprehensive coursework requirement is set to compensate. If a student's absence exceeds 40%, they lose the right to take the exam. Students who do not meet the attendance requirements due to special grounds can apply for dispensation from the course coordinator.
