MEST5040 Mote og samfunn Emneplan

Dette emnet gir en innføring i motens funksjon i dagens samfunn gjennom utforskning av mote som både et kulturelt og et økonomisk system. En undersøkelse av betydningen av og mekanismene bak produksjon, og forbruk av mote viser hvor komplekse miljømessige og etiske problemstillinger motebransjen står overfor nå og i fremtiden. Gjennom klasseaktiviteter undersøkes kommende innovasjon innen både teori og praksis, noe som utvikler evnen til kritisk analyse av motesystemenes utvikling for å møte samfunnets skiftende behov. Vurderingsoppgaver gir deg mulighet til å fordype deg i emner du interesserer deg særlig for.

Opptak til master i estetiske fag, studieretning mote og samfunn

Kunnskap

Studenten har:

•kunnskap om de kulturelle og industrielle produksjonssystemene innen mote og hvordan de er i endring

•kunnskap om nyere utvikling innen moteteori og -praksis

•forståelse av de komplekse miljømessige og etiske problemstillingene innen dagens mote

•forståelse av innovasjon innen motefeltet, både teknologisk og kulturelt.

Ferdigheter

Studenten kan:

•analysere kompleksiteten i motebransjen gjennom ulike teoretiske og praktiske tilnærminger

•reflektere kritisk over etiske og miljømessige problemstillinger innenfor systemene for produksjon og forbruk av mote

•identifisere og kritisk drøfte problemstillinger som er relevante for dagens mote og samfunn

•identifisere, sitere, analysere og syntetisere informasjon fra mange ulike kilder for å underbygge et

argument.

Generell kompetanse

Studenten kan:

•utføre selvstendige forskningsaktiviteter som svar på en gitt oppgave

•anvende eksisterende kunnskaper og ferdigheter på nye forskningsområder

•formidle et kritisk syn på eksisterende problemstillinger innen mote og samfunn, både muntlig og skriftlig.

Undervisningen veksler mellom forelesninger, seminarer og workshops der dialog og refleksjon knyttet til teori og praksis står sentralt. Alle deler av undervisningen, samt oppgaver og seminarer er obligatoriske.

Følgende arbeidskrav er obligatoriske og må godkjennes for å gjelde for eksamen:

•minst 80 % tilstedeværelse på forelesninger og seminarer

•en individuell skriftlig oppgave. 2000-2500 ord + bibliografi

•individuell presentasjon for medstudenter og lærere i FoU-seminar.

Individuell skriftlig hjemmeeksamen over fem dager. 3000-4500 ord + litteraturliste.

Eksamensresultatet kan påklages.

• is familiar with research and development in the field both on national and international levels
• can identify pedagogical opportunities and concerns of social mobile learning
• can update his or her knowledge in the field of social mobile learning
• is familiar with the history of social and mobile learning and their international, social and educational implications
• is familiar with current and emerging social mobile technologies in general and for educational purposes

Skills

The candidate

• can use and critically evaluate learning with mobile social technologies and their relevance as tools for individual and collaborative learning
• can design learning activities using mobile social technologies, can apply academic knowledge to practical and theoretical issues within this field
• can seek out ideas and insights, assess and refer to information and academic texts and relate these to learning and teaching with mobile social media

General competence

The candidate

• has insight into relevant ethical issues related to the use of mobile social media in learning environments
• can plan and carry out tasks and projects alone or as part of a group and in accordance with ethical requirements and principles
• can present academic material such as theories, problems and solutions related to mobile social media, both in writing and orally, as well as making use of current and emerging social mobile technologies
• can articulate, exchange opinions and participate in relevant networks to enhance and enrich both own and others' professional development
• is familiar with new ideas and innovation processes and can seek insight from leading edge practice and research in the field of learning with mobile social media
• can reflect on social mobile learning practices and relate these to national and international research, policies and practices

Seminar activities will be conducted in class, and students are expected to participate actively. Activities alternate between lectures, student seminars and practical sessions. A major part of the course is focused around pedagogical project work.

Before the student can sit exams two course work requirements must be met. These assignments are subject to peer assessment response according to specific criteria. The two course work requirements are:

• Paper on mobile technologies in teaching and learning (2000 words).
• Pedagogical evaluation of digital learning resources and tools for mobile learning platforms (1000-1500 words).

The assignments are marked -accepted- or -not accepted-. Students who are assessed with -not accepted- may rewrite and submit maximum two new versions of the assignment in agreement with the teacher.

The final assessment is based on the group project report (1500-2000 words) and an individual oral exam (max. 45 minutes). One of the assignments (see course work requirements) must be presented as part of the oral exam.

The final grade is based on the project report (counting 40 %) and the oral exam (counting 60 %).

Both exams must be passed in order to be awarded a final grade. If a student does not pass one of the exams, only the failed exam shall be re-taken.
