New to OsloMet? This is how you get ready for the start of your studies

Welcome to all new students! Here are some tips to help you prepare for your new student life.

Checklist

When you are a new student, there is a lot of new information that you have to familiarize yourself with, and the start of the semester can feel overwhelming. That is why we have created a checklist for you. By following it, you know that you have all the practical things in place and are well prepared to start your studies.

Events at the start of studies

OsloMet has several events you can take part in at the start of your studies. Maybe you meet your new study friend or find a new leisure activity? Join us – the events are open to all students at OsloMet.

  • Welcome Ceremonies – August 12th: Three separate ceremonies will be held: one at Kjeller campus (student.oslomet.no), one at Pilestredet campus for TKD and LUI (student.oslomet.no), and one at Pilestredet campus for SAM and HV (student.oslomet.no). We encourage all buddy groups to attend the welcome ceremony. It will be a great atmosphere!
  • Free concert, August 12th at 8:00 PM at Chateau Neuf
  • Student Association Day, August 14th: On Association Day, many of OsloMet’s student associations will have stands so you can get to know them before choosing the one(s) that suit you best.
  • Studentslippet, August 30th to September 5th (studentslippet.no) is held across Oslo and is open to all new students. You’ll get free entry to many attractions, museums, and activities. It’s a great way to get to know Oslo and meet other students.
  • Stay updated on student.oslomet.no for additional events and activities during the start of the semester.
  • You can also find an overview of student events in Oslo in the event calendar of the Student Welfare Organization SiO (sio.no).
