Course history

Introduction

The course description was approved 1 June 2016 by the Academic Affairs Committee and established by the Dean 9 June 2016 at the Faculty of Education and International Studies. Latest revision approved by the Academic Affairs Committee 11 May 2017. Minor revision made 20 December 2017.

The Faculty of Education and International Studies at the Oslo and OsloMet offers interdisciplinary courses in Development Studies and North-South relations, leading to a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies comprising 180 ECTS credits. The module in "Media and Development" is a course at the intermediate level, 4th semester in the BA programme. Fulfilled requirements and a passable grade entitle the student to 10 ECTS credits.

This interdisciplinary course seeks to combine perspectives from the social sciences and the humanities on media and development. Drawing on contributions from various disciplines the course is concerned with historical processes of media, their uses and the social consequences of media practices.

The language of instruction is English or Norwegian, depending on the language proficiencies of the student body. However, students may submit assignments in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.

Teaching and learning methods

The course is a full-time academic programme lasting four to six consecutive weeks, offered in the spring semester. The course consists of lectures and seminars with active student participation.

Course requirements

I dette emnet lærer studenten å konstruere hydraulikksystemer og velge komponenter. Emnet omfatter også rørsystemer og pumper samt vanlige energimaskiner. Det legges vekt på systemforståelse og forståelse av enkeltkomponenter.

Assessment

Etter å ha gjennomført dette emnet har studenten følgende læringsutbytte, definert som kunnskap, ferdigheter og generell kompetanse:

Kunnskap

Studenten

  • kan gjøre rede for ulike maskinsystemer som omformer energi.
  • kan gjøre rede vanlige komponenter som inngår i slike systemer

Ferdigheter

Studenten

  • kan tegne hydrauliske koblingsskjema og gjøre enkle systemanalyser.
  • kan konstruere og dimensjonere enkelte hydrauliske systemer.
  • kan regne ut arbeidstrykk, volumstrøm og strømningshastigheter i rørledninger ved hjelp av Bernoullis ligning og kontinuitetsligning.
  • kan regne ut trykktap og effekttap over ulike typer komponenter i rørledninger og finne arbeidspunktet til pumper som arbeider i et sammensatt system.
  • kan regne ut effekt, dreiemoment, og ulike typer virkningsgrader for systemer basert på termiske og elektriske energimaskiner.

Generell kompetanse

Studenten

  • kan utarbeide korrekt dokumentasjon av egne arbeider

Permitted exam materials and equipment

Forelesninger, laboratorieoppgaver og øvinger med veiledning.

Grading scale

Følgende arbeidskrav er obligatorisk og må være godkjent for å fremstille seg til eksamen:

  • Et konstruksjonsprosjekt
  • To lab-oppgaver
  • Tre innleveringer

Ca beregnet arbeidsbelastning er fire timer forelesning og fire timer øving med veiledning og fem timer selvstudium per uke.

Examiners

The exam will be jointly marked by an internal and an external examiner. The external examiner will read a selection of the exam papers and collaborate with the internal examiner in a way that benefits all the students.

Admission requirements

The course is open to students who have completed at least a one-year introductory course in Development Studies at OsloMet or equivalent courses at other institutions of higher eduaction in Norway or abroad.
