Course history

Introduction

The following must have been completed and approved in order for a student to take the exam:

  • Reflection assignment, individual assignment about expectations of own and others’ participation in group work, scope of 1,000 words (+/- 10%)
  • Participation in communication training
  • Participation in seminars, compulsory attendance of 80% in seminars
  • Inspirational practical training, one week of practical training focusing on the nurse’s role and responsibilities. Supervised by third year students.

Required preliminary courses

Home exam in groups

  • Carried out in groups of 3–5 students.
  • Three days
  • Scope: 2,500 words (+/- 10 %).
  • Individual description of own contribution to the group is attached to the assignment, max. 350 words (+/- 10%)

Resit exam: A student who fails the ordinary exam may nevertheless submit a reworked version as a resit.

Learning outcomes

All aids are permitted, as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.

Grade scale A–F.

Course requirements

Two examiners will assess the exams. At least 10% of the exam papers will be assessed by an external examiner. The external examiner’s assessment shall benefit all students.

Assessment

SYKK1000 and SYKP1000 overlap 100 %.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

All aids are permitted, as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.

Grading scale

Grade scale A-F.

Examiners

Practical training has requirements for attendance, self-presentation for the start of the practice and self-assessment for the mid- and final assessment, first aid (only year 2020), simulation palliation - in home-based services 2 days, innovation and service development - participation in workshops related to innovation and innovation processes 2 days, group assignment (3–5 students) – based on learning outcomes in the course, the group prepares a project description after the mid-term evaluation issue related to nursing in private homes or in care homes. Scope 1000 words (+/- 10 %). Based on the project description, the group creates a poster that is presented at a seminar before the final assessment.

Overlapping courses

The assessment takes its point of departure in given criteria based on learning outcomes for the course, assessment criteria, the continuous assessment, the suitability assessment and compulsory activities carried throughout the practical training. Students’ practical training can only be assessed if their attendance is sufficiently high (90%). If the student has failed the practical training, the whole practical training course must be retaken. This includes associated requirements (not includes INTER1300)
