Introduction

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most impactful technologies in the 21st Century. From videogames to self-driving cars to automation of administrative processes, artificial intelligence is becoming an evermore present in our modern society. The growing applications of AI has transformed the industry, how we work and how we live.

As any technology, AI has potentials, limitations and challenges to overcome in order to be useful. To do so, society must become aware of its true AI’s true potential - what it can do and what it cannot do - and learn how this technology works. The Introduction to artificial intelligence applied to organizations and industries aims to provide a sound understanding of AI technologies: its history, functionality, capabilities, as well as its limitations and challenges.

To critically appraise AI technologies, the student will get in contact with diverse perspectives on the ethical, legal and social considerations around AI. Without any coding, students will be introduced to the mechanics and processes involved in building a working AI system. Finally, the students will assess all the perspectives surrounding AI and then be encouraged to express their own critical judgement about the potentials of the technologies in their own professional context.
