    After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

    Knowledge

    The student has

    • a deep understanding of the interplay between human rights and social sustainability, particularly through the lens of social work within social and political orders.
    • comprehensive knowledge of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its significance in shaping fundamental human rights protections.
    • insight into how social, cultural, and political dimensions of solidarity and rights influence rights-based social work practices.
    • an understanding of the roles of child protection, children's rights, extremism, social exclusion, and nation-states' obligations toward human rights across different state models, with a focus on the Nordic welfare state's approach.

    Skills

    The student can

    • critically analyze and assess the sustainability of social orders and the extent to which public service practices contribute to solidarity and trust.
    • evaluate the effectiveness of social work practices in upholding human rights and fostering sustainable intersubjective trust.
    • design rights-based practices in social work that align with various approaches to sustainability.
    • discuss and compare the implementation of human rights principles across different countries, considering normative and constitutional constraints within the democratic rule of law.

    General competence

    The student can

    • develop a critical understanding of the role of trust and solidarity in sustaining social and political orders.
    • engage in informed discussions on sustainable social work practices and the integration of human rights perspectives in social work research and policy development.

  • Arbeids- og undervisningsformer

    Undervisningen foregår med fysisk oppmøte på campus, og består av forelesninger over teoretiske og tematiske emner og seminarer for veiledet diskusjon og skrivetrening. Både forelesninger og seminarer inneholder diskusjoner hvor vi øver på å anvende teorier på empiriske eksempler.

    En oversikt over emnets teoretiske perspektiver og tematiske innretning i det aktuelle semesteret vil foreligge før emnet starter, og studentene oppfordres til å bruke denne oversikten aktivt i kollokvier og selvstudium for å få bedre kontroll på et sammensatt felt.

  • Arbeidskrav og obligatoriske aktiviteter

    For å kunne fremstille seg til eksamen må studenten ha følgende godkjente arbeidskrav:

    • Arbeidskrav 1. Individuell skriftlig oppgave

    Oppgaven skal være på 2000 ord (+/- 10 prosent). Skrifttype og skriftstørrelse: Calibri 12 pkt. Linjeavstand: 1,5. Oppgaven tar utgangspunkt i et selvvalgt spørsmål fra en liste med spørsmål.

    Formålet med arbeidskravet er å få trening i akademisk skriving og konkret øving i å anvende teori i praksis. Arbeidskravene vil gjøres til gjenstand for diskusjon i seminarene. Skrivetreningen skal gi bedre innsikt i bruk av teori og teoriens relevans for praksis.

    Arbeidskravet må være gjennomført og godkjent innen fastlagt frist for at studenten skal kunne fremstille seg til eksamen. Dersom arbeidskravet ikke blir godkjent, gis det anledning til å kunne levere forbedret versjon én gang.

  • Vurdering og eksamen

    Eksamen i emnet er en individuell skriftlig skoleeksamen på 4 timer.

  • Hjelpemidler ved eksamen

    Ingen hjelpemidler er tillatt.

  • Vurderingsuttrykk

    Gradert skal A-F.

  • Sensorordning

    Det benyttes intern og ekstern sensor til sensurering av eksamensbesvarelsene.

    Et uttrekk på minst 25 % av besvarelsene sensureres av to sensorer. Karakterene på disse samsensurerte besvarelsene skal danne grunnlag for å fastsette nivå på resten av besvarelsene.
