Upon completing the course, the candidates are expected to have gained the following learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and general competence).

Knowledge

The candidate:

  • has an extensive understanding of what philosophy of science is
  • has in depth knowledge of philosophy of science applied in sustainability studies
  • has in depth understanding of the normative and structural positions and implications of various ontological and epistemological perspectives in the philosophy of science of sustainability

Skills

The candidate:

  • can integrate philosophy of science in research tasks and reflect on own research project
  • can discuss different ontological and epistemological perspectives in sustainability research
  • can participate in debates on the philosophy of science foundations in their own field and in relation to different research traditions
  • can critically assess research through analysis of discourses, norms, vlaues, concepts, models, and methods

General competence

The candidate:

  • can identify and analyse philosophy of science problems and issues within their own and others’ research
  • can recognize and discuss normativity and values in sustainability studies
  • can identify and discuss the meanings and uses of concepts and definitions relating to sustainability as a discursive field that dictate action and charter directions for change

  • Group tutorials with live demonstrations
  • Group exercises applying tools and techniques for attack, testing and defense
  • Home assignments (written and practical, e.g. attacking or securing virtual machines)
  • Blue-Red-team competitions in defender and attacker roles

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer

The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:

  • Five assignments composed of the following: search for information, find vulnerabilities in virtual servers, scan/attack virtual machines, find attack patterns, competitive exercises (capture the flag, red-blue-teaming). Assignments may need presence or collaboration with other students on campus.
  • Participation in a round of hacking or defense-attack competition and a written report based on the activity

Vurdering og eksamen

Gradert skala A-F, der A er beste karakter og E er dårligste karakter for å bestå eksamen. Karakteren F innebærer at eksamen ikke er bestått.

Målgruppe

Målgruppen er primært yrkesutøvere i helse-, sosial- og omsorgstjeneste, men inkluderer også andre yrkesgrupper som skal forholde seg til spørsmål om seksuell helse, aldring og folkehelse.

Opptakskrav

Søkere må ha bachelorgrad eller tilsvarende. Søkere som har fullført minst tre år av femårig integrert masterutdanning eller av seksårig profesjonsutdanning, kan også tas opp.

The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:

Two assignments which include a technical setup and eport of about 5000 words.
