Innledning
The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the transition of migrants from arrival to work and capacity building through education for various migrant groups. The course takes up the issue of employment in various types of work and unemployment. Other themes are the operation and function of public integration programmes, the study of discrimination, competence about diversity and the framework for employee protection. Social dumping and discretionary inequalities in work and capacity building will be covered.

Have an understanding of the meaning of work life and education for integration of migrants in Norway. Have an understanding of inclusion and exclusion mechanisms in Norway-s labour markets and education systems.

the Introduction Programme and other measures for increasing integration of migrants into work life

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer
The course is based on lectures, class exercises, homework assignments and literature. Students are expected to actively participate in the course meetings, with an emphasis on dialogue.

Vurdering og eksamen
Assessment will take place in the form of an individual assignment of maximum eight pages, given as a home exam over three days (72 hours). Citation of sources and references will be required.

Grading scale A to F.
Sensorordning
All exam papers will be assessed by an internal examiner. A selection of at least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by an external examiner. An external examiner will also be used when there is doubt as to whether an exam paper should be awarded a pass grade. The grades awarded to exam papers assessed by the external and internal examiner will be used to determine the level of all exam papers.
