Innhold
MESTU4230 Contemporary Art Didactics (10ECTS) follows the spring session of the course MEST4230 Kunst i samfunnet (Art in Society) (20ECTS), and offers an applied perspective on art in contemporary society, while also seeking to maintain and further develop the particular and critical potential of art. Discussions around the different roles and uses of art in society will be central, and new ways of applying art perspectives will be sought developed.
The course contains both a practical and a theoretical approach to art, and in relation to MEST4230 Kunst i samfunnet (Art in Society), MESTU4230 Contemporary Art Didactics specifically emphasizes art based and contemporary oriented perspectives on didactics, education and mediation, both written and performed. The course is organized around three themes:
- Art Didactics - on communication, mediation and epistemological frameworks in art education.
- Curating and institutional practice - on curating as an organizational, creative and ideological practice.
- Texts on/in Art - on different genres and categories of text production used for reflection, criticism and mediation in the art field (critiques, commentaries, catalogue texts, reviews, press releases, educational material, etc.).
