Forkunnskapskrav
Paediatric nurses have an independent responsibility for their own professional practice in addition to delegated medical tasks and cooperate closely with paediatricians and other members of the healthcare team. In order to perform delegated medical tasks and initiate paediatric nursing measures, the students need to acquire specialist knowledge of pathophysiology, failure of vital functions and intensive care in connection with different medical and surgical conditions in children, as well as relevant related knowledge of anaesthesiology. This knowledge is necessary in order to be capable of observing and interpreting signs of illness in children, implementing nursing measures and participating in, performing and monitoring advanced medical treatment of children.
