Introduction
This course provides a hands-on experience with the application of novel theories and methods into a specific system in robotics and control. The application topic will be tightly connected to on-going research projects and the relevant laboratories at OsloMet. The topic will be announced one semester prior to the start of the course.
The course comprises of a review of the research challenge, lectures on state-of-the-art theories and methods used in the design of the specific application, practical aspects for the development work. The project work will be in real or virtual laboratory environment. Students will get a holistic perspective on research and development work and hands-on experience with the cutting-edge technologies.
Recommended preliminary courses
The course main teacher will be one of the teachers in the Robotics and Control specialization. Questions can be sent to specialization coordinator, Professor Tiina Komulainen.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
The student
- can critically assess how diet affects the development and risk of obesity, diet related non-communicable diseases and undernutrition
- can critically discuss the scientific evidence that forms the basis for dietary guidelines and nutrient recommendations
- can discuss different types of food systems and analyse the interconnection between diet and sustainability, food production and consumption locally and globally
- can discuss the social, political, economic and cultural factors that have an impact on food consumption among different population groups
- can discuss the development of public health nutrition as a professional practice
Skills
The student
- can apply relevant explanatory models and theories in the understanding of changes in diets over time and socio-economic differences in diet and health
- can assess and evaluate the prevalence and distribution of nutrition-related health challenges in different population groups
General competence

- can convey scientific perspectives and results from own academic work
Teaching and learning methods
The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:
- Four assignments in groups (1000 - 2000 words per assignment).
Course requirements
The following must have been approved in order for the student to take the examination:
- A written assignment of up to 3,000 words (individually or in groups of two to three students)
- Oral presentation of the assignment in a plenary session
- A reflection note of up to 1,000 words, and a oral presentation from the one-day observation internship at a relevant workplace
Assessment
The exam is an individual written report of 4000-6000 words, excluding the front page and reference list.
The exam must be written in either English or a Scandinavian language.
The exam can be appealed.
New/postponed exam:
In case of failed exam or legal absence, the student may apply for a new or postponed exam. New or postponed exams are offered within a reasonable time span following the regular exam. The student is responsible for registering for a new/postponed exam within the time limits set by OsloMet. The regulations for new or postponed examinations are available in regulations relating to studies and examinations at OsloMet.
A student who fails or has legal absence in the ordinary exam, may submit a reworked version at a re-sit.
Permitted exam materials and equipment
All aids are permitted, provided the rules for plagiarism and source referencing are complied with.

Grade scale A-F.
Examiners
Two internal examiners. External examiner is used periodically.
Overlapping courses
Småbarnspedagogikk (30 studiepoeng) inngår som del av tilleggsutdanning i barnehagepedagogikk (60 studiepoeng). Emnet er samlingsbasert og går over to semestre med eksamen siste semester. Gjennom studiet får studentene oppdatert kunnskap i sentrale fagområder som samsvarer med rammeplan for barnehagen.
