MAPD4000 Philosophy of Science and Design Research Emneplan

This course introduces students to several methods and approaches for systems oriented design analysis and development for complex settings. The complexity relates to social/political, environmental, economic, management, and technological contexts in which the designer as well as products and service that they create, will perform and influence. One of the major methods in this course is GIGA-mapping, which builds on cooperation among students and clients, with lay-people, professionals, stakeholders, and researchers from other disciplines (intra- and inter disciplinary). GIGA-mapping involves the visualization of data in order to accumulate, communicate, and analyse data to understand and create products and services within complex strategic systems and structures.

Studiet er innrettet slik at studentene skal kunne gjennomføre det på deltid ved siden av jobb. Det innebærer at det for noen emner vil være samlingsbasert, med digitale gjennomføringsmåter i tillegg. Noen av emnene vil kunne ha en heldigital gjennomføring uten bruk av fysiske samlinger. Under samlingene blir det brukt varierte undervisningsformer med en kombinasjon av forelesninger, diskusjoner og case-studier. I emnene forventes det at studentene deltar på samlinger og forelesninger, og deltar aktivt i undervisningen. Studentene har ulik utdanningsbakgrunn og yrkeserfaring. Ved at de deler sine erfaringer og sin faglige kompetanse med hverandre, blir dette en ressurs for gjensidig læring.

Masterstudiet skal bidra til å øke studentenes kompetanse i å forstå internasjonale forhold og perspektiver innen ledelse. Deler av pensum er på engelsk, med modeller og eksempler fra ulike land. Minimum ett emne tilbys også på engelsk.

Eksamen vurderes til bestått/ikke bestått

Two internal examiners. External examiners are used regularly.

A grading scale of A (highest) to F (lowest) where A to E is a pass grade and F is a fail grade.
