Required preliminary courses

Students must have passed ANESTPRA10 Clinical Studies in Nurse Anaesthesia, Level 1 in order to start this course.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:

Knowledge

The student

  • has in-depth knowledge of how the most common anaesthesia methods and drugs function and are used
  • has in-depth knowledge of the most common complications in connection with acute and/or critical illness, advanced medical treatment and anaesthesia
  • has in-depth knowledge of special circumstances relating to different surgical procedures that have a bearing on the choice and application of different anaesthesia forms, techniques and drugs
  • has in-depth knowledge of maintaining and restoring vital functions in situations where they are threatened
  • has knowledge of the effects of different treatment and examination methods on the nurse anaesthetist's working environment

Skills

The student

  • is capable of analysing and taking a critical approach to existing theories and methods in nurse anaesthesia
  • is capable of working on practical and theoretical problem-solving relating to the functions and responsibilities of a nurse anaesthetist:
    • is capable, with some assistance, of working in an independent and responsible manner when administering general anaesthesia to otherwise able-bodied patients (ASA 1 and 2) in accordance with applicable guidelines
    • is capable of independently administering and evaluating prescribed anaesthetics and other relevant drugs
    • is capable of independently administering and evaluating the most commonly used pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain relief methods
    • is capable of independently monitoring patients under regional anaesthesia and deep sedation
    • is capable of using the anaesthetic machine and advanced medical equipment commonly used in treatment in a conscious and sound manner
    • is capable of independently identifying acute and problematic situations
    • is capable of ensuring continuity in patient treatment through written and oral documentation

Competence

The student

  • is capable, with some supervision, of analysing ethical issues based on relevant discipline knowledge, research, experience and patient knowledge
  • is capable of participating actively in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation on patient treatment in accordance with his/her own competence and applicable ethical principles and healthcare legislation
  • is capable of contributing to new ideas and innovation processes in nurse anaesthesia

  • Observation, monitoring and treatment to prevent serious failure of vital functions
  • Restoring vital functions following anaesthesia and surgery
  • Postoperative monitoring and nursing
  • Division of responsibility for medical procedures and drug administration

Håndholdt kalkulator som ikke kommuniserer trådløst og som ikke kan regne symbolsk. Dersom kalkulatoren har mulighet for lagring i internminnet skal minnet være slettet før eksamen. Stikkprøver kan foretas.
