Innledning
On successful completion of the course, the student has the following learning outcomes classified as knowledge, skills and competence:
Knowledge
The student
- can identify the difference between behavior and intention
- can describe and discuss the relational perspective on behavior, and how one can train to observe the consequences of one's own behavior, rather than one's own intentions
- can describe and discuss the concept of control attribution
- can describe various psychological constructs, and discuss them in terms of observational basis, research methods and theoretical interpretations
Skills
The student
- can analyze important variables that influence individual behavior, including self-instructions and self-rules
Competence
The student
- can observe and adapt to the effects of their own behavior on the behavior of others
Anbefalte forkunnskaper
The academic content of this course consists of perspectives on the role of education in relation to social development and local, national and international discourse on education. The role of education in relation to social, cultural and economic development, and political and economic power and inequality are important issues within this framework. Another important issue is the role of education in conflict and war situations, and to what extent education can help to mitigate or exacerbate conflicts. Emphasis is also given to the role of education in relation to issues concerning identity (indigenous, ethnic and national identities) and the choice of language of instruction in multilingual societies.
Forkunnskapskrav
Students submit 4 written assignments, each with maximum 3 pages including references, according to the deadlines in the course schedule

The portfolio will be evaluated by an internal and external examiner.

Arbeidskrav og obligatoriske aktiviteter
The work and teaching methods used in the course are characterised by lectures and dialogue and discussions, to which the students bring their own different practical experience and academic backgrounds. See the general programme description for further details.
Vurdering og eksamen
The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:
- 80 % attendance requirement
Hjelpemidler ved eksamen
The course is assessed based on an individual written home exam over five days, with a scope of 3,000 words +/- 10%.
Resit/rescheduled exam
The resit/rescheduled exam is organised in the same way as the ordinary exam.
Vurderingsuttrykk
Examination support material is permitted.
Sensorordning
A grade scale with A being the highest grade and E the poorest pass grade is used. The grade F means that the student has failed the exam.
