    After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

    Knowledge

    The student has knowledge of

    • basic questions related to integration
    • questions and problems concerning modernity
    • questions concerning state, bureaucracy, and nation building
    • the meaning of work in the New Capitalism

    Skills

    The student is able to;;

    • reflect on the relationship between political development and the state
    • reflect on what constitutes racism
    • analyze empirical knowledge and discuss questions related to the development of national building
    • consider the central arguments for and against societal integration
    • consider the views on the role of work in New Capitalism

    General competence

    ;The student will be able to:

    • critically discuss and reflect on ethical consequences of major theories on integration and modernity
    • convey knowledge connected to major topics on integration and challenges in modern society

    The subject is organized into lectures, and discussions.

  • Vurdering og eksamen

    The exam in the course is a supervised exam of 5;hours. The exam;can be written in English or Norwegian.

    The following aids are permitted:

    Bilingual dictionary (English-Norwegian or English-foreign language)

  • Vurderingsuttrykk

    Graded scale A-F.;

  • Sensorordning

    The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner. At least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.
