Innledning
This course provides a hands-on experience with the application of novel theories and methods into a specific system in robotics and control. The application topic will be tightly connected to on-going research projects and the relevant laboratories at OsloMet. The topic will be announced one semester prior to the start of the course.
The course comprises of a review of the research challenge, lectures on state-of-the-art theories and methods used in the design of the specific application, practical aspects for the development work. The project work will be in real or virtual laboratory environment. The student will get a holistic perspective on research and development work and hands-on experience with the cutting-edge technologies.
Anbefalte forkunnskaper
It is highly recommended that the student has previous knowledge in programming, robotics and control. It is recommended that the student has taken the courses ACIT4810 Advanced Methods in Modelling, Simulation, and Control, ACIT4820 Applied Robotics, and Autonomous Systems and ACIT4830 Special Robotics and Control Subject.
Forkunnskapskrav
No formal requirements over and above the admission requirements.
Læringsutbytte
Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- have advanced knowledge of novel theories and methods for a specific robotics and control application
- knowledge in practical aspects for the development work.
Skills
Upon successful completion of the course, the student:
- can assess suitability of different theories and methods for the specific robotics and control application
- can apply novel theories and methods for the specific robotics and control system
- can design and implement the chosen algorithms, software and hardware for the specific robotics and control application.
General competence
Upon successful completion of the course, the student:

Innhold
Topics covered in this course
- Application of novel theories and methods into a specific system in robotics and control.
- Project work related to current research projects at the MEC department and related laboratories at OsloMet.
Arbeids- og undervisningsformer
This course will feature weekly lectures and laboratory work to provide both theoretical and hands-on experience. The course responsible will introduce the project topic at the beginning of the semester. The project work will be carried out in groups of a size suited for the assignment and focused around the relevant laboratories at OsloMet. The student will supplement the lectures and laboratory work with their own reading.
Arbeidskrav og obligatoriske aktiviteter
The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:
- Four assignments in groups (1000 - 2000 words per assignment).
Vurdering og eksamen
Exam in two parts:
1) Group project report (5000-20000 words). The project report counts 80% of the final grade.
2) Individual project presentation of student's contribution to the project (10 minutes). The oral examination counts 20% of the final grade
Both exams must be passed in order to pass the course.
The oral examination cannot be appealed.
New/postponed exam
In case of failed exam or legal absence, the student may apply for a new or postponed exam. New or postponed exams are offered within a reasonable time span following the regular exam. The student is responsible for applying for a new/postponed exam within the time limits set by OsloMet. The Regulations for new or postponed examinations are available in Regulations relating to studies and examinations at OsloMet.
Hjelpemidler ved eksamen
All aids are permitted.
Vurderingsuttrykk
Grade scale A-F.
Sensorordning
Two internal examiners. External examiner is used periodically.
Emneansvarlig
The course teacher will be one of the teachers in the Robotics and Control specialization.
