How do I find out what applies to me?
The documentation requirement varies between the different partner institutions. More information about the specific requirements that apply is available on the pages concerning the institution or from the international coordinator on your study programme.
Countries in Europe (Erasmus+)
If you are going on an exchange through Erasmus+ and will follow the teaching or do a placement in one of the 12 languages included in the scheme, you need to take a mandatory language test in Online Linguistic Support (OLS) before you go.
English-speaking countries outside Europe
Many English-speaking countries accept a grade 4 or better in English from upper secondary school. Students with lower grades are usually required to take a TOEFL or IELTS test (ansa.no). A few universities demand a language test regardless of grades.
If you are applying for exchange with an institution that requires a TOEFL or IELTS, you must register for the test at the earliest opportunity. The waiting time for taking the test and getting your score may be long. If you wait too long, you may miss the institution’s own application deadlines.
