OsloMet introduces digital diplomas
Graduating students will receive a digital diploma from this spring. Here you get more information about what this means for you, and what happens to printed diplomas.
OsloMet introduces digital diplomas. This means that students who complete their studies will now receive their diploma in Studentweb and in the Diploma Registry.
Those who have applied for a job or education abroad and need a printed diploma, can get a duplicate. You must apply for this by June 9 if you need it before the summer.
Who gets digital diplomas?
From the end of the Spring Term 2021, all students will normally receive a digital diploma when they complete their studies.
Some student groups will receive printed diplomas. First of all this applies to students without a Norwegian national identity number, who do not have access to their digital diplomas. PHD candidates also receive printed diplomas.
Can I order a printed diploma?
Your digital diploma is the original document. It is issued in compliance with the current international standard and is normally accepted by all.
However, there may be institutions abroad, which do not accept the digitally signed documents. In this case, you can apply for a printed duplicate. Read more about printed duplicate on our website (student.oslomet.no/vitnemal).
You can apply for a duplicate at any time. However if you need your duplicate at hand before by 1 July, you must apply for it no later than 9 June. If you apply after this date, your duplicate may be delayed.
What is a digital diploma?
A digital diploma is a diploma in PDF with a digitally secured signature. The signature is valid as long as you do not try to modify the document. Read more about digitally signed documents in the Diploma Registry (vitnemalsportalen.no).
How can I access my digital diploma?
When your digital diploma is issued, it will be available for you in the Diploma Registry and Studentweb. Even if you are no longer a student at OsloMet but as long as you have your Norwegian national identity number, you will be able to access your diploma in the Diploma Registry and Studentweb.
How do I know when my digital diploma is ready?
When your digital diploma is ready, you will be notified at your email address registered in Studentweb. We will also send the notification to your student email address at OsloMet (please, note that your student email account will be deactivated in 30 days after your graduation).
How do I use my digital diploma?
You can access your digital diploma or send and share it with those who may request it. For example, when applying for a job, you will no longer need to scan your printed diploma or submit a verified printed copy; you can easily share the file containing your digital diploma with your future employer.
You can also share your marks and degrees with your potential employers directly from the Diploma Registry.
If you have applied for education in Norway, you will not have to think about submitting your digital diploma. Most Norwegian educational institutions automatically retrieve your diploma (information about your degree) into their system along with your results.
Why digital diplomas?
The transition from printed diplomas to digital diplomas will considerably facilitate your document exchange with your potential employers and educational institutions, which today require digital document submission. On the other hand, it will contribute to OsloMet achieving its goals of becoming more sustainable and digitalised.
