Programme description
Course history

Introduction

This course provides an introduction to legal method, human rights and administrative and social welfare law. The point of departure for the course is the application of law as part of professional practice. The course provides an introduction to the Norwegian legal system and the application of legal method when working with legal issues in social work. The students will learn about administrative law, welfare law and human rights.

Language of instruction is Norwegian.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student

  • has knowledge of the justice system
  • is familiar with legal method and how to proceed to be able to make a decision in legal issues arising in the performance of social work
  • has knowledge of general administrative law, including fundamental principles of administrative law and case processing rules
  • has knowledge of the Child Welfare Act, the National Insurance Act, the Act relating to social services in NAV, the Act relating to patients’ and users’ rights, the Health and Care Services Act and the Children Act
  • is familiar with basic concepts and principles in welfare law
  • is familiar with important human rights and their importance to social work

Skills

The student

  • can identify, discuss and decide legal issues in social work
  • can identify the requirements made of the legal grounds for social workers’ administrative decisions

General competence

The student

  • has insight into legal issues of relevance to social work issues
  • can work on legal issues relating to social work

Content

Videreutdanningen består av ett emne, VSHSO Seksuelle overgrep - Forebygging, avdekking og oppfølging (10 stp), som gjennomføres på deltid over et semester. Emnet er inndelt i moduler, som vil gjenspeiles i de digitale læringsressursene. Læringsressursene og samlinger/webseminarer er heldigitale. Det vil bli avholdt 4 webseminarer i løpet av emnet. Forventet studieinnsats er beregnet til ca. 12 timer pr. uke.

Internasjonalisering

Økende globalisering av arbeidsmarkedet gjør internasjonal erfaring, språk- og kulturkunnskap viktig. Internasjonalisering gir også innsikt i globalisering generelt og bidrar til å oppnå bedre studiekvalitet og styrking av fagmiljøet ved utdanningen. Kunnskap om internasjonale forhold er også viktig for kunnskapsutviklingen.

Internasjonalisering skjer gjennom fagmiljøets kontakt og samarbeid med kolleger i andre land. Videreutdanningen har som mål å rekruttere utenlandske studenter som behersker ett av de skandinaviske språkene, og markedsføres derfor i alle nordiske land. Pensum består både av norsk og internasjonal fag- og forskningslitteratur.

Teaching and learning methods

The teaching takes place with in-person attendance on campus, and the working methods comprise lectures and student-active sessions for solving assignments. Some of the teaching material may be posted on the learning platform in the form of videos, articles and other relevant material. Self-study is required before and after lectures and seminars.

Course requirements

Arbeidskrav er alle former for arbeid, innleveringer, presentasjoner og obligatorisk tilstedeværelse som settes som vilkår for å fremstille seg til eksamen. Arbeidskrav gis vurdering godkjent/ikke godkjent. I dette studiet må følgende arbeidskrav være godkjent for å fremstille seg til eksamen:

Obligatorisk deltakelse

Det er krav om minimum 75 % deltakelse på samlinger/webseminarer og 100 % på presentasjoner, for å sikre at studentene har det nødvendige grunnlaget for å oppnå læringsutbyttene.

Dersom studenten overskrider fraværsgrensen, vil emneansvarlig vurdere om det er mulig å kompensere for fraværet. Muligheten for kompensasjon avhenger av hvor stort fraværet har vært og hvilke aktiviteter studenten ikke har deltatt på. Fravær fra obligatoriske samlinger som ikke kan kompenseres, kan medføre forsinkelse i studentens utdanningsløp.

Videoarbeidskrav

  • Videoarbeidskrav: Studentene skal filme et rollespill hvor de samtaler to og to. Studentene skal etter gitte kriterier gi hverandre tilbakemeldinger.

Skriftlige arbeidskrav og presentasjoner:

  • Individuell skriftlig oppgave, knyttet til et gitt sentralt tema, á 500 ord (+/- 10 %). Presentasjon av oppgaven i samling, med medstudentrespons.
  • Individuell skriftlig oppgave, sammendrag av én artikkel, á 500 ord (+/- 10 %). Presentasjon av oppgaven i samling, med medstudentrespons.

Assessment

The exam in the course is an individual supervised exam of 5 hours.

Grade scale A-F.

Examiners

The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner. At least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.
