Introduction
Hensikten med emnet er at studenten skal tilegne seg kunnskaper og ferdigheter for å utføre korrekt legemiddelregning.
Required preliminary courses
This course is based on PHVIT9100, Health Sciences II: Philosophy of Science, Research Ethics and Research Methodology. It takes a critical perspective of quantitative methodology related to research processes where quantitative design is relevant. The course also covers how the choice of different quantitative methods affect the quality of research. The application of different designs (cross-sectional, longitudinal, clinical trial, experimental) and advances statistical analysis (regression analysis, repeated measurement, survival analysis, power analysis) is discussed.

Etter gjennomført emne har studenten følgende læringsutbytte definert i kunnskap og ferdigheter:
Kunnskap:Studenten
- har kunnskap om de sentrale begrepene i legemiddelregning
- har kunnskap om legemiddelregningens plass som en del av legemiddelhåndtering og hvordan denne reguleres av lover og forskrifter
Ferdigheter:Studenten mestrer legemiddelregning, ved at hen:
- kan bruke internasjonale standarder og enhetssystemer innenfor legemiddelregning
- kan regne ut dose, styrke eller mengde
- kan regne ut injeksjons- og infusjonshastighet (dr/min og ml/t)
- regne med tid der dosen fordeles over en gitt tidsperiode, innenfor et gitt tidsrom
- kan regne med tid der dosen er ordinert per ml eller dråper og angitt per tidsenhet (0,125 mg/ml eller 0, 15 ml/kg/min)
- kan regne ut i fra ordinert dose i forhold til kroppsvekt (i kg eller kroppsoverflate (i m2)
- kan regne med fortynning av flytende legemidler eller fortynning av tilsetning av legemidler som er blandet ut for å gis som injeksjoner/fusjoner
- kan vurdere og gjøre kontroll av egen og andres utregning

- analyse, interpret, and disseminate the results of quantitative research
- address complex scientific issues and challenge established knowledge and practice in quantitative methodology

The PhD candidate can
- argue in favour of particular quantitative approaches on the basis of scientific theory
- identify relevant ethical issues and conduct research based on quantitative methodology with professional integrity
- can participate in discussions on quantitative methodology
Assessment
Work and teaching methods consist of lectures, seminars, self-study, and practical exercises in the use of different software programmes for statistical analysis. The outcomes of the seminars are presented and discussed in plenary sessions.

Grading scale
Bestått/ikke bestått. For å bestå eksamen må studenten levere en feilfri besvarelse.
Examiners
Individual home examination based on specific questions. To be submitted no more than two weeks after the end of the course. Answer papers must consist of up to 3500 words.
