Course history

Introduction

The course is organised as practical work and theoretical studies that are carried out simultaneously. Project work is an important part of the programme. Teaching is progress-based, from common basic assignments to independent topics chosen by the students themselves.

Interaction between theoretical understanding and practical-aesthetic creative work and reflection is emphasised in the course. Supervision and assessment are an important part of the work process.

Teaching in the course is project and cooperation-based, to reflect work in enterprises, workshops, museums, galleries and collections. The work and teaching methods are lectures, seminars, supervision, debates, field studies and exhibitions. The purpose of this is to develop the students’ knowledge, ideas, practical skills, professional understanding and ability to express themselves.

Students on the course are required to attend workshops and to actively participate in tuition. Students are expected to find relevant reading material in addition to the syllabus, and are encouraged to use the learning centres and the resources available there.

The course has 30 ECTS overlapping content towards KDK3000.

Learning outcomes

In order to be permitted to sit the exam, the following compulsory coursework must have been completed and approved:;

Coursework requirements, project 1: Professional identity - Exhibition and portfolio (individual and group work)

  • One portfolio (individual work)
  • Preparation and execution of an exhibition (individual and group work)

Coursework requirements, project 2: Practical work training (individual work)

  • Constructive participation in the practical training enterprise/institution’s activities
  • Weekly logs from the practical training period (submitted in Fronter)
  • A written report on the practical training (approx. 3,500 to 4,000 words, around 8-10 pages) with a visual profile describing the student’s experience seen in the context of the art field
  • An oral and visual presentation of the student’s experience from the practical training enterprise/institution (based on the practical training report)

    The required coursework is assessed as approved/not approved.

    Compulsory attendance at teaching activities:

    The student cannot be absent for more than 20% of the course.

    The paper shall comply with the guidelines for written assignments and the relevant syllabus shall be used in the paper.;See the teaching plans for more information about the exam.

Teaching and learning methods

The exam is a practical-aesthetic exam project with pertaining written paper. The project and the paper are assessed as one. The exam assignment will be distributed around six weeks before the submission deadline. The result of the exam can be appealed. Individual exam.

1. Practical-aesthetic project

The student shall produce/develop a practical-aesthetic work on an issue relating to the course.

2. Written paper

The written paper shall be on the practical-aesthetic work, and shall be maximum 8,000 words long.

Absence - fail Students who do not take the exam due to valid absence, or who are awarded a ‘fail’ can register for a resit/rescheduled exam.

If a student is taking a resit/rescheduled exam, he/she can submit a reworked version of the same exam project, or a new exam paper.

The exam will be assessed by two internal examiners. The course may be selected for grading by external examiners. ;

Prosjekter i emnet

Prosjekt 1:;Praktisk arbeidstrening;

Praksisperioden fokuserer på studentens evne til å utøve og utvikle sin fagkompetanse i arbeidslivet. I prosjektperioden gjennomfører studenten en arbeidspraksis knyttet til kunst og/ formidling (for eksempel i museer, gallerier, verksteder, bedrifter og/eller skole eller annet innenfor kultursektoren). Det legges vekt på ulike former for skriftlig, muntlig og visuell presentasjon.

Prosjekt 2. Eksamensprosjekt Kunst i offentlig rom;

I eksamensprosjektet arbeider studenten med kunstformidling og kunst i det offentlige rom. Det legges gjennomgående vekt på tilegnelse og anvendelse av ulike teoretiske perspektiv som er relevante i en praktisk-estetisk sammenheng. Prosjektet er et forberedende prosjekt til bacheloroppgaven som tar sikte på å styrke studentens teoretiske refleksjon rundt den praktiske utøvelsen av faget.;
