Course history

Introduction

I dette emnet vil studenten tilegne seg en grunnleggende forståelse hvordan sammenhengen mellom konsept, visuelle estetiske virkemidler, produksjonsprosesser og marked er koblet sammen i en design - og produksjonsprosess.I perioden legges det vekt på en visuell identitet i en bærekraftig kontekst. Emnet gir kunnskap for arbeide med design- og produksjonsrelaterte områder innen mote og tekstilbransjen. Det blir i perioden lagt vekt på forholdet mellom teori og praksis. Det vises for øvrig til undervisningsplanene som ytterligere spesifiserer innholdet i emnet.

Learning outcomes

The course focuses on the development of students’ practical-aesthetic, dissemination and theoretical skills. Practical-aesthetic work is combined with art and dissemination theory and practical dissemination. The course emphasises art and dissemination in a broad societal perspective in which the understanding of space and context plays a central role. The course is organised in the form of two projects (see below) and concludes with an exam.

The fourth semester of the Bachelor’s programme facilitates Exchanges.

Content

Studenten skal tilegne seg grunnleggende kommersiell forståelse gjennom å forstå hvordan sammenhengen mellom konseptutvikling, visuelle virkemidler, produksjonsprosesser og markedsforståelse er med å definere og innramme en designprosess. Faginnholdet som ligger til grunn for perioden er informasjonsinnhenting for å utvikle produkter som skal treffe en målgruppe og et marked.

Teaching and learning methods

Emnet forutsetter tilstedeværelse i verksteder og aktiv deltakelse i undervisningen. I studiet brukes det arbeidsformer som forelesninger, workshops, veiledning og faglige debatter. Dette har til hensikt å utvikle studentens kunnskaper, idéer, praktiske ferdigheter og faglige forståelse. Det forventes at studenten selv innhenter relevant fagstoff utenom pensum i emnet, og det oppfordres til å bruke læringssentrene og de ressursene som tilbys der. Felles presentasjoner og utstillinger vil danne grunnlag for drøfting og vurdering av studentarbeid.

Course requirements

Arbeidskrav må være innfridd og være vurdert til godkjent før studentene kan fremstille seg til eksamen.

Følgende arbeidskrav er obligatorisk og må være godkjent for å fremstille seg til eksamen:

  • Deltagelse ved emnets milepælsmøter hvor studenten fremlegger muntlig et problemområde, egen praktiske progresjon, oversikt over relevant faglitteratur og en arbeidsplan for aktivitet og disponering av tid.

Obligatorisk tilstedeværelse i undervisningen: Studenten kan ikke ha mer enn 20 prosent fravær i emnet.

· is capable of leading others’ artistic development projects and art dissemination work

Permitted exam materials and equipment

The course is organised as practical work and theoretical studies. Working with projects is emphasised. This includes both basic training and working with topics chosen by the students themselves. Students are required to attend workshops and to participate in tuition. The teaching methods used in the course are lectures, seminars, supervision and debates. Students are expected to find relevant reading material. Joint presentations and exhibitions will form the basis for discussion and assessment of students’ work.

Grading scale

Project 1: Art, space and installation (individual work):

• A practical-aesthetic work

• A written, reflective text (around 1,200 words).

Project 2: Dissemination of contemporary art to specific target groups (group work):

• Practical group work relating to the dissemination of contemporary art.

• Preparation of a special communication design for the practical training week.

• A group report (the number of words depends on the project and will be specified in the assignment text for the coursework requirement).

• An oral and visual group presentation

There is a minimum attendance requirement of 80% for compulsory teaching activities.

The coursework requirements are assessed as approved/not approved.

Examiners

The exam project is individual and comprises the following three interrelated parts

1. A practical-aesthetic work

2. A dissemination text (around 200 words)

3. An academic text (around 3,000 words)

The exam result can be appealed.
