Applying for funding

Applying for funding

Registered student associations at OsloMet can apply for funding in a variety of ways. Read more about the alternatives here.

Student associations can apply for funding through the following channels:

  • Student Welfare Council's Board of Cultural Affairs
  • Other funding schemes
  • Volunteering and association assignments
  • Sponsors

The organisation SiO Foreninger can help your association to find other potential sources of funding. Volunteering work is a good alternative for generating revenue and for team building in the association, but paid assignments through the student association Konsulatet and sponsorship deals are also good options. Be creative!

Types of funding

  • Funding can be applied for to start something new
  • To target a broader audience with your activities
  • New initiatives, extensive initiatives and initiatives across the disciplines
  • Funding can also be allocated to initiatives that benefit all students at OsloMet.

When to apply

There are two application deadlines per year.
The deadlines are normally 15 April and 1 October. A reply to the application will normally be received 5 weeks after the deadline at the latest.

Student Welfare Council's Board of Cultural Affairs

The Student Welfare Council's Board of Cultural Affairs grants funding to student associations, and there are several application deadlines each semester. The money that is allocated comes out of the student fees. New student associations can receive special funding for start-up and to purchase necessary equipment. Associations that apply for funding must have separate statutes that have been approved by a general assembly that underline the purpose of the association. Associations at UiO and OsloMet must be registered in the registration scheme for student associations to receive funding from the Board of Cultural Affairs. Application to the Student Welfare Council’s Board of Cultural Affairs can be completed on SiO’s website, under ‘Min forening’ (‘My association’).

You can read more about how to apply on the Student Welfare Council’s website.

Volunteer work and assignments

Assignments for student associations are continuously published on the Facebook page of the association Konsulatet. This could be, for instance, to be an extra in a film or audience at a TV programme, or to host a conference at OsloMet. Such assignments can easily lead to more team building and are ways of bringing the students together, in addition to giving the association a financial boost.

Sponsors

If you are going to organise a large event, or if you know a company that could benefit from cooperating with you, try to get a sponsorship deal. Remember, however, that it is normally more difficult to get financial support than free things, food or equipment.
