The Homeless World Cup will be held at Rådhusplassen in Oslo from August 23rd-30th. Women's and men's teams from over fifty countries will participate when the football cup is held for the twentieth time.
To qualify for the national teams, players must have been homeless at some point in the last two years before the tournament. They must be drug-free before accepting to be on the national team and until the championship is over. The team managers have specific knowledge about drug abuse and mental health challenges.
OsloMet is a partner
The Homeless World Cup Foundation is a non-profit organization that brings together those who have experienced homelessness and exclusion – and those who are working on solutions.
The championship shines a spotlight on major social challenges that are relevant to several of OsloMet's professional communities, such as health, housing, nutrition and social work. The goal of the tournament is to combat homelessness in the world, including in Norway.
OsloMet is a partner when the championship is organized by the Salvation Army at Rådhusplassen in August.
