Oslo and Lillestrøm have many offers for those who want to be active indoors. Explore our tips. Maybe you will find a new hobby?
Indoor activities – Oslo
Climbing
Did you know that you have access to a separate climbing wall on campus? You can find this on the ground floor at Pilestredet 35. You can climb on your own initiative, or you can join the student association OsloMet IL, which has its own climbing group.
Craft workshop and needlework
Do you like making your own things and being creative? In OsloMet's Makerspace at Pilestredet 35, you have access to an entire workshop with lots of different equipment (oslomet.no). All OsloMet students can use the workshop. Before you get started, you must take a training course.
Several of the Deichman libraries also have equipment you can borrow. Otherwise, you can go to organized creative activities in the city, such as Smykbar, Paint on Pots, Paint'n Sip and ceramics courses.
Do you enjoy knitting? The student association Strikk og Drikk Oslo has regular meetings (sio.no).
Gaming
Do you like gaming? Then you can join OsloMet gaming - OsloMet's own student association for gamers (oslometgaming.no).
You can drop by the gaming bar House of Nerds in the evening without booking in advance. Here you can borrow consoles and board games while ordering something good to drink.
Board games
The libraries at OsloMet lend board games. The same has Samfunnet Bislet.
Spilloteket is the club for those who love board games. You buy a game pass when you arrive and get access to over a thousand board games.
Do you want to play chess in your spare time? OsloMet has its own chess association: SjakkMet. Sign up here or in one of the many other chess clubs in Oslo.
If you want to play more occasionally, the bar The Good Knight is a good alternative (goodknight.no).
Places with social activities
Shuffleboard is both social and fun. Did you know that OsloMet has a shuffleboard that you can use completely free of charge in Pilestredet 52?
Oslo has several nightclubs with both shuffleboard and other activities. Check out Tilt, Oslo bar og bowling, PinPin, DuckPin, Oche, Cue and Oslo Camping.
Quiz, stand-up og impro
Samfunnet Bislet has quiz nights on Wednesdays.
Do you like stand-up and improvisation? Check out the program at Nieu, Det Andre Teatret, SALT, Carls, Josefine's Vertshus (Reis Deg Komikerklubb), Dattera til Hagen (Prøverøret) and Kulturhuset.
Vintage markets
Do you enjoy hunting for used treasures? Add the weekend trip to the markets Blå, Vestkanttorget, Birkelunden and Floke Marked.
Indoor activities – Lillestrøm
Gaming
Bring a group of friends and test the Pixel Paradise gaming center. It is located in the basement at Norasonde. The center is free and open to everyone on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Board games
In the library on campus you will find several board games that you can play in the library or borrow to take home. You can also borrow games in Ølkjeller`n.
Join us for a chess night at Lillestrøm Library. They have drop-in evenings every Wednesday.
Places with social activities
On campus Kjeller you can play billiards, table tennis and shuffleboard. Take your reading break here, or invite some study friends after the lecture.
Did you know that OsloMet Kjeller has a table tennis association? Join the Kjeller Table Tennis Student-union (sio.no) and strengthen both skills and cohesion.
At Stasjonen there is free darts and shuffleboard for students on Tuesdays.
At Strømmen storsenter you can play bowling, darts and billiards.
Do you want to arrange dinner with friends and need more space? Then you can borrow a nice room in the basement under Lillestrøm church. Here you have access to kitchen facilities, among other things. If you have questions or wish to arrange use of the church basement, contact city deacon Ragne Øybekk Sander on tel. 459 78 377.
Knit and sew
Bring a group of friends and create a knitting café at one of the cafés with a student discount in Lillestrøm (campuslillestrom.no).
Do you want to make or repair your own clothes? In Lillestrøm library you can borrow sewing machines.
Quiz and bingo
Quizgutta has music bingo at Venus every Wednesday. They have a quiz at Republic every Thursday and music bingo every Friday. You have to book a table in advance.
Study in the libraries
How about reading in a new place and getting some variety in your everyday life? There are pleasant work zones and reading rooms at the library in Lillestrøm city centre. The municipality also has other libraries where you can read.
