Recommends removing the TikTok app from devices connected to OsloMet's services
Do you have access to OsloMet's digital systems such as Canvas, e-mail and Teams via your mobile? OsloMet recommends that you delete the TikTok app.
The Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) considers that there is a great risk if the app TikTok or Telegram is installed on devices that have access to the digital infrastructure or services of an institution. This means services such as Canvas, e-mail and Teams.
OsloMet's recommendations to our students to delete TikTok and Telegram on their private devices are based on NSM's assessments and OsloMet's assessments of our responsibility based on this. Deleting the apps is a recommendation to OsloMet's students and not something you are required to do.
Why does OsloMet recommend that you remove the TikTok app?
There is an increasing use of social media in the population, and the various apps partly collect extensive data about you as a user. It is especially a challenge that TikTok is Chinese-owned and that data about you ends up in China.
