About our guidance
English speaking students can seek advice and supervision from a writing mentor, individually or in groups. We offer both physical and digital guidance, usually up to five times per semester per student.
You can get help with:
- planning your writing
- structuring your text
- understanding the task
- using appropriate writing styles
Feedback is dialogue based. The writing mentors do not proof read texts and they can not help with subject specific advice.

Courses
Courses in study techniques, academic writing, ICT and coping with stress are all held in Norwegian. Most of the content in these courses can be given to International students individually or in smaller groups. Book an appointment via TP (Norwegian page, tp.uio.no).

Facilitating learning in groups (PAL/SI-PASS)
PAL/SI-PASS (Peer Assisted Learning / Supplemental Instruction) is a scheme that is intended to foster cross-year support between students on the same course/program.
Information about how to encourage students to support each other and learn cooperatively under the guidance of students from the year above.
