On successful completion of this course students are able to

  • experiment with existing methodological tools
  • evaluate material potentials and processes through an experimental approach in a specific context
  • choose materials for a specific context/purpose based on the findings of practical testing Explore aesthetic, material and methodological challenges relating to the combination and use of materials in a specific contextvalue a willingness to work independently
  • manipulate chosen materials skilfully in the practical design process
  • dissect and refine design models systematically

  • Aesthetic principles of form and function in a specific context.
  • Experimental material practice.

The most important teaching and learning methods for this course are discussions, group work, lectures, studio courses and tutoring.

  • One group assignment
  • One peer group presentation

Vurdering og eksamen

Individual or group [1] portfolio examination. The portfolio consists of:

  • a written reflection (or report) on the design-process and end-product concept
  • design process documentation including end product

The examination result can be appealed against.

No restrictions.

Vurderingsuttrykk

A grading scale of A (highest) to F (lowest) where A to E is a pass grade and F is a fail grade.

Sensorordning

Two internal. External examiner is used periodically.

[1] On a professional basis, students may apply to sit the examination group. Applications should be submitted lecturer/person with course responsibility at the start of the course.
