Introduction
Emnet vil omfatte forskningsbasert kunnskap om forekomst/insidens, årsaker, risikofaktorer og forløp, konsekvenser på individ- og samfunnsnivå samt anbefalte retningslinjer for behandling og forebygging. Fokus er på det vitenskapelige grunnlaget for fysioterapeutens undersøkelse, behandling og vurdering relatert til barn, eldre personer og personer med MUSSP. Emnet har også fokus på utfordringer for helsefaglig, spesielt fysioterapifaglig, virksomhet i lys av teoretisk og forskningsbasert kunnskap, klinisk erfaring, pasientens preferanser og kontekstuelle faktorer. Det legges vekt på kritisk analyse og vurdering av hvordan kunnskap anvendes i behandling og/eller forebyggende tiltak. Studentene vil prøve ut og kritisk vurdere kartlegging/undersøkelsesinstrumenter. Prinsipper for utviklings- og kvalitetsforbedringsarbeid/forskning knyttet til fysioterapi i praksis vil også inngå. Når det gjelder barn, vil ulike teoretiske perspektiver og forståelse av utvikling og læring hos barn med typisk og atypisk utvikling diskuteres i lys av barnets deltakelse i sitt hverdagsliv.

Teaching and learning methods
Undervisningen er dels felles for alle studentene og dels hver for seg i de tre fordypningene.
Arbeidsformene består av forelesninger, feltarbeid, seminarer, presentasjoner, gruppearbeid og selvstudier.
Presentasjoner på seminarer er viktige for å understøtte læringsprosessen og arbeid med de to skriftlige oppgavene som skal leveres til eksamen; se «Eksamen» nedenfor. Hver student skal holde to presentasjoner. Den ene er en litteraturgjennomgang, mens den andre er knyttet til feltarbeid som skal gjøres på utdanningens praksisavdeling/poliklinikk eller ved ekstern klinisk institusjon. I feltarbeidet skal studentene bruke ulike standardiserte vurderingsinstrumenter i praksis. I etterkant skal instrumenter, resultater, erfaringer og problemstillinger presenteres for medstudenter og faglærer som gir tilbakemeldinger. Studentene får i tillegg én time veiledning, hovedsakelig som gruppeveiledning.

Vurderingsform: Individuell mappe med to oppgaver, hver på inntil 2500 ord.
Vurderingsuttrykk: Gradert skala A-F. Det settes samlet karakter.
