After completing the course, the students are expected to have action competence in the field of paediatric nursing, which means being capable of taking responsibility and demonstrating the ability to make independent assessments in paediatric nursing practice, both in elective and in more acute and complex situation. The students are expected to demonstrate clear progress, take responsibility and, to an increasing extent, demonstrate the ability to make independent assessments in paediatric nursing practice.
Required preliminary courses
Students must have passed BARNPRA20/MBARNPRA20 Clinical Studies in Paediatric Nursing, Level 2 in order to start this course.
Learning outcomes
Nurse anaesthesia is an independent professional practice that takes place in close collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, in particular anaesthetists. The anaesthesiology functions of a nurse anaesthetist are delegated by a doctor and require specialist anaesthesiology competence. Anaesthesiology work comprises general and regional anaesthesia and observing patients under e.g. sedation. Knowledge is required to be able to initiate quick and adequate treatment in acute situations until other help arrives, and is a precondition for close collaboration with anaesthetists.
