Course history

Introduction

The subject is organised as a seminar with both lectures and demonstrations and involves two four-day meetings. The subject provides a running consideration of research projects presented by the candidates and experienced researchers. Projects are presented in accordance with fundamental academic questions and current international research in the academic area.

Required preliminary courses

Participation is mandatory and expected all teaching days. Only in special cases, absence from teaching may be accepted upon application. In case of non-approved absence, the participant will lose the right to have the essay approved.

Learning outcomes

The candidates shall write an essay of approximately 15 pages. The essay shall be presented and discussed in one of the meetings. The essay shall be handed in within at least 2 months after the subject is concluded.

In case an essay is not approved, the candidate may submit an adapted essay once within a specified time.

The essay shall be approved by the course coordinator.

Target group and admission requirements

The target group for this subject are doctoral students in the PhD programme at Library and Information Science at OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, but it will also be open to students admitted to other PhD programs on who whish to study the field in depth.

Internal candidates register their course in the Studentweb, and send a summary maximum one page, of their project tto the PhD administration.

External candidates applies through the Søknadsweb. the following documentation must be enclosed:

1. Confirmation on admission to a PhD program

2. Summary of your research proposal (app.1p) and motivation for your application.

Grading scale

Eksamen vurderes til Bestått/Ikke bestått.

Examiners

Det benyttes to interne sensor (PF/YF). Tilsynssensor evaluerer vurderingsformer og vurderingsprosesser i studieprogrammet.
