Introduction
For å kunne framstille seg til eksamen må studenten ha følgende godkjente individuelle arbeidskrav:
- Skriftlig innlevering av tema, foreløpig problemstilling samt ønske om veileder.
- En skriftlig plan for arbeidet (3-5 sider). Skrifttype og skriftstørrelse: Arial / Calibri 12pkt. Linjeavstand: 1,5.
- En skriftlig litteraturoversikt med utgangspunkt i oppgavens tema på 2-4 sider. Skrifttype og skriftstørrelse: Arial / Calibri 12pkt. Linjeavstand: 1,5.
- En muntlig presentasjon av pågående arbeid ved et midtveisseminar.
Arbeidskravene må være gjennomførte og godkjente innen fastlagt frist for at studenten skal kunne framstille seg til eksamen. Dersom et eller flere arbeidskrav ikke blir godkjent, gis det anledning til å kunne levere en forbedret versjon en gang innen angitt frist.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:
Knowledge
The student has knowledge of:
- the acts and regulations relevant to the service(s) provided at the practical training establishment
- the practical training establishment’s professional basis and how the establishment describes the purpose of its activities
- how the practical training establishment cooperates with other relevant services
- how the practical training establishment safeguards the service recipients’ right to user participation and protection of privacy
- users with different needs of assistance
- the extent to which the service helps to strengthen the users' coping and improve their life situation
Skills
The student
- is capable of identifying ethical dilemmas and conflicts of values relating to the service provision
- is capable of explaining how users’ right of self-determination is safeguarded
- is capable of identifying user resources and interests that have a bearing on life quality
- is capable of identifying a care and/or training need in a service recipient in cooperation with the practical training supervisor
- participates in care and training measures that promote the user’s coping and quality of life
- is capable of assessing the usefulness and effect of care or training measures
- takes active part in relevant professional discussions at the practical training establishment
Competence
The student:
- is capable of presenting and discussing relevant issues, challenges and ethical dilemmas in the professional practice of social educators
- demonstrates the expected professional skills in accordance with the applicable suitability criteria
Teaching and learning methods
The practical training requires active participation at the training establishment to ensure the optimal overall learning outcome.
Course requirements
The following required coursework must be approved before a student can receive a final assessment:
- participation in work at the practical training establishment (minimum attendance of 90%)
- participation in teaching and seminars before and during practical training
- submission of practical training documents
- assessed and found suited for the profession according to suitability criteria
If a period of practical training is assessed as 'fail', the following coursework must be repeated:
- participation at the practical training establishment (minimum attendance of 90%)
- submission of practical training documents
- assessed and found suited for the profession according to suitability criteria

Individual portfolio exam
Portfolio requirements:Part 101 Assessment of practical trainingPart 102 Written assignment relating to the practical training, maximum length: 2,000 words. A pass is required in part 101 to be able receive an assessment of part 102.
Resit/rescheduled exam: Part 101 Assessment of practical training: Students who fail a period of practical training must retake the whole training period. Part 102 Written assignment relating to the practical training. If a period of practical training is assessed as 'fail', a reworked version of the assignment must be submitted.
