Introduction
The course provides insight into work on design and production-related fields in the fashion and garments industry. Emphasis will be placed throughout the course on the relationship between theory and practice. The course consists of two parts.
Part 1 focuses on the concepts of idea, process and product, and emphasis is placed on the relationship between theory and practice. The course has a commercial focus. The course is taught over 10 weeks and the work method is individually-adapted.
Part 2 of this course focuses on reflection and analysis relating to identity - the links between concept, function, material and technique, and on the ability to visualise a work process relating to fashion. Emphasis is given to experimentation and innovation with respect to professional identity and own style. Philosophy of science and research design is part of the subtopic. The course is taught over 8 weeks and the work method is individually adapted.

Learning outcomes
Part 1) the individual written assignment is assessed by one internal and one external examiner
Part 2) the individual practical assignment is assessed by two examiners

15 credits overlap with the course TANN1100 Dental Morphology and Biology,

Course requirements
In order to be permitted to take the exam, the following compulsory coursework must have been completed and approved:
1. Practical-aesthetic project with written documentation
- The student must produce/develop an outfit that falls within the relevant trend.
- Written documentation on the practical-aesthetic work, of around 2,000 Words. 2. Philosophy of science and research design (group work)
- Group work relating to the teaching
- An oral and visual group presentation

Compulsory attendance at teaching activities: The student cannot be absent for more than 20% of the course.
Assessment
The exam is a practical-aesthetic project, to be carried out individually or in groups (2-3 students), with pertaining written assignment (approx. 2,000 words). The project and the paper are assessed as one. The paper must comply with the guidelines for written assignments and relevant syllabus must be used.
The exam result can be appealed.
