Course history

Introduction

A portfolio exam consisting of:

1. A written project report, individual or in groups (max 5 students), 3000 words +/-10%

2. An oral presentation, individual or in groups (max 5 students), 10 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A

The exam result cannot be appealed.

The portfolio is assessed as a whole and given a single grade, but both the project report and the oral presentation must be passed in order for the portfolio to receive a grade E or higher.

For group projects, all members of the group receive the same grade. Under exceptional circumstances, individual grades can be assigned at the discretion of the project supervisor(s) and Head of Studies.

  • har avansert kunnskap i faget norsk tegnspråk og tegnspråkdidaktikk med vekt på grunnleggende ferdigheter i tegnspråk
  • har inngående kunnskap om ulike og aktuelle arbeids- og læringsformer for tegnspråkfaget i skole eller barnehage
  • har inngående kunnskap om relevant forskning på tegnspråklig undervisningspraksis
  • har kunnskap om hvordan opplæringen i og på tegnspråk kan tilpasses alle elevers forutsetninger og behov
  • har inngående kunnskap om tegnspråktekster, med fokus på sammensatte tekster
  • har inngående kunnskap om progresjon i undervisning og elevers læring

Studenten

  • kan forholde seg kritisk til relevant nasjonal og internasjonal forskning innen tegnspråkfeltet og anvende denne kunnskapen i profesjonsutøvelsen
  • kan anvende relevante metoder til å observere, analysere og reflektere kritisk over tegnspråklig pedagogisk praksis
  • kan på et avansert nivå anvende prinsipper for læringsorientert vurdering i tegnspråkfaget og slik bidra til at elevene lærer å reflektere over sin egen læring og utvikling
  • kan analysere og bruke metoder slik at elever utvikler metakognitiv kompetanse om egne muntlige ferdigheter, samt avlesnings- og tekstproduksjonsstrategier
  • kan vurdere digitale uttrykk og ressurser kritisk og bruke dem i opplæringen på måter som styrker og utvikler tegnspråkfagets didaktikk

Content

The paper will be evaluated by two internal examiners. An external programme supervisor is used according to OsloMet guidelines to appointing and use of examiners

Teaching and learning methods

Through work with the literature and the tasks, the student should learn to initiate and perform critical learning processes for adult and young students within the field of digital citizenship.

Course requirements

The aim of this course is to give the students the tools to participate and critically evaluate in and teach about digital democratic processes in society

A student who has completed his or her qualification has the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

  • Has advanced knowledge of the interrelationships between digital citizenship and civic participation
  • Has advanced knowledge of the role of technology in a digitalised society

  • Can identify and communicate key concepts related to digital citizenship
  • Can critically evaluate conceptions of digital citizenship
  • Has the ability to initiate learning processes related to digital citizenship
  • Can apply knowledge on digital citizenship and civic participation to design and perform relevant teaching and learning processes

General competence

The student

  • Understands how to engage with digital citizenship in a digitalised society
  • Understands the importance of safety, literacy, and ethics in a digitalized society
  • Can communicate key concepts in digital citizenship to colleagues and students

Assessment

The course is designed for students to be physically present, but may also be adapted to students who participate online. Synchronous participation is recommended. No video recordings of the teaching and learning sessions are made. Work methods are student-active and collaborative. The students are expected to take active part in discussions and supposed to read the course literature on their own. The course work requirements will ensure that the student acquires sufficient theoretical knowledge to participate in oral and internet-based discussions during the semester. The course may be taught in English if English speaking students attend.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

See general rules in the programme plan. Students must have the following course- work requirements approved before examination. The course work requirements must be approved before students are eligible for examination.

1) Written paper in groups of 2-4 students, length 1000 words +/- 10 %, covering sub-theme: Participation in democratic processes in the digital society.

2) Written paper in groups of 2-4 students, length 1000 words +/- 10 %, covering sub-theme: Critical Thinking. Students will each be assigned paper to peer-review

3) Individually written paper, length 1000 words +/- 10% covering sub-theme Teaching and learning in the digital democratic society

Grading scale

The students will be assessed according to an individual home exam. Duration one week. The students must write a paper (4000 words +/- 10%). The paper, based on the course literature, will be the basis of the final assessment.

New/postponed exam will be organized in the same way as the ordinary exam. Students who fail the exam may submit a revised version of the paper.

  • can apply achieved knowledge on action research in relation to participatory design
  • can communicate theories and challenges of participatory design and action research both to researchers and other communities
