Course history

Introduction

The course introduces the neurological basis of cognition and basal knowledge of cognitive psychology. Cognitive psychology deals with attention, sensing, perception, acts, linguistic processes, problem-solving, thinking, learning and memory.

Required preliminary courses

The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:

  • Individual written assignment: Op-ed article. Scope: around 1,000 words. Each student must also provide peer feedback to two other students in writing. Scope of each peer feedback: around 200–350 words.
  • Coursework requirements relating to a children’s culture festival, consisting of the following elements:
  1. Practical work in groups carried out in kindergarten. The practical work must be documented through a multimodal text aimed at parents. Scope: maximum three pages/ five minutes.
  2. Written reports in groups after the children`s culture festival. Scope: around 1,000 words.
  3. Presentations in groups of the work related to the children`s culture festival.Scope: around 15 minutes.

Academic activities with compulsory participation

The students must have participated in the following academic activities before they can take the exam:

  • Seminar on language mapping in the kindergarten
  • Seminar on various guidance topics
  • Interdisciplinary seminar in Norwegian and mathematics
  • Seminar on mathematical patterns

An 80% attendance requirement applies to the teaching

Teaching and learning methods

Work and teaching methods used in the course are lectures and self-study. Seminars will also be held where the students present subject matter in groups. Participation in these seminars is compulsory. Students will present texts from the syllabus and encourage discussion, and will receive supervision relating to guidance on further reading. During the course, the students will give four presentations related to key topics in the syllabus. The topics will be set by the lecturer.

The students’ learning outcomes will be documented through presentations and the examination.

Course requirements

Med utgangspunkt i valgt tema får studenten oppnevnt veileder. Student og veileder skal gjennomgå og undertegne en veiledningskontrakt. Oppgaven skal i utgangspunktet skrives individuelt.

Det kan, etter søknad, åpnes opp for at flere skriver sammen. Dersom flere studenter skriver sammen, skal fordeling av ansvar og omfang godkjennes av studieleder i samråd med emneansvarlig.

Masteroppgaven kan inneholde multimodale dokumentasjonsformer (bilde, video og annet) eller kunstnerisk arbeid. Det skal utarbeides et sammendrag på engelsk (inntil 350 ord).

Studentene inviteres til å presentere masteroppgaven på et åpent seminar på institutt for barnehagelærerutdanning.

Supervised individual written examination, four hours.

Eksamen i dette emnet er en digital historiefortelling.

  1. Den digitale praksisfortellingen skal utarbeides individuelt.
  2. Filmen skal forsvares muntlig individuelt med intern og ekstern sensor tilstede.
