Course history

Introduction

The course deals with medical and trauma patients. A paramedic must have knowledge of clinical examination, patient history-taking and documentation related to emergency medical conditions and must be able to make sound assessments and decisions related to ill and injured patients’ priority, treatment and transport needs. The course provides an introduction to tentative diagnostics and emergency medical intervention and is based on recommendations on trauma made by the surgical and anaesthetic field.

The student must have been admitted to the study programme.

Learning outcomes

MT2 is dedicated to the project work, for example, development, data collection and analysis, depending on the specific projects. In addition to a written report, project status and the results achieved will be presented orally at an internal mini-conference affiliated with the programme.

Teaching and learning methods

MAUU5910 / MAUUD5910 Master's Thesis - MT1 (Phase 1) must have been passed before the student can start working with MT2.

Assessment

The project plan, literature study, problem statement and research questions from MT1 (Phase 1) forms the basis for MT2. The work is carried out under the guidance of the supervisor appointed at the start of MT1. Full-time students are expected to complete MT2 in the 3rd semester. Part-time students are expected to complete MT2 in the 6th semester.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

There are no coursework requirements in this course.

Grading scale

  • A suitable and qualified document with a recommended 5000 words or more, with systematically documented research, including research methodology, project results and ethical considerations, according to the project plan from Phase I.
  • Individual oral presentation of results at the mini-conference.

Both exams must be passed in order to pass the course.

The oral presentation cannot be appealed.

Examiners

All exams are assessed by two examiners. At least 20% of the exam papers will be assessed by an external examiner. The external examiner’s assessment should benefit all students.
