  • Introduction

    Studenten må ha fullført og bestått 2. studieår av bachelorprogrammet i bibliotek- og informasjonsvitenskap.

  • Required preliminary courses

    After completing the course, students will acquired the learning outcomes defined in knowledge, skills and general competence:

    Knowledge

    The student has

    • a broad overview of different sources of risks and how they affect the cashflows and the value of the corporation
    • knowledge about how to quantify those risks with popular risk measures
    • knowledge of how to mitigate or eliminate the risk exposure with standard derivative contracts
    • understanding of when risk management adds value to a corporation

    Skills

    The student can

    • identify different sources of risks and quantify a corporation¿s exposure to them
    • calculate the impact of different risks using popular risk measures, e.g., Value-at-Risk, for individual positions and for entire portfolios or the entire corporation
    • employ appropriate financial instruments to mitigate or eliminate the impact of the different sources of risks.

    Competence

    The student is able to quantify and manage the risk of a corporation and has a critical understanding of the limitations of the various techniques discussed in the course.

  • Teaching and learning methods

    Vurderingsformen er en bacheloroppgave. Bacheloroppgaven utføres vanligvis individuelt, men kan også utføres i grupper på inntil tre studenter. Oppgaven skal ha et omfang på 60000-110000 tegn med mellomrom (skrifttype og skriftstørrelse: Arial/ Calibri 12pkt. Linjeavstand: 1,5). Studenter som ikke består ordinær eksamen, må ved ny/utsatt eksamen levere en omarbeidet besvarelse. Studenten har krav på begrunnelse og én times ekstra veiledning. Hvis besvarelsen fortsatt ikke er bestått etter ny/ utsatt eksamen, må det leveres en helt ny besvarelse med ny problemstilling ved neste ordinære eksamen. Studenten har da ikke krav på veiledning.

  • Course requirements

    The course includes lectures, readings, problem solving, oral and written presentations, workshops, guest speakers and cases. Students are expected to actively contribute and participate in discussions and exercises.

  • Grading scale

    The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner.

    At least 25 per cent of the exam paper is assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.

  • Examiners

    An internal and an external examiner will grade the exam.

    A selection of at least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded to exam papers assessed by the external and internal examiner will be used to determine the level of all exam papers.
