The course is organized in series of lectures, working groups and student presentations.

Course requirements
The following coursework requirements must have been approved for the student to take the exam:
- Coursework 1: An outline of 1-2 pages for the planned course essay (exam).
The aim of the coursework requirement is to prepare the students for their course essay (exam), and also to allow the teachers to adjust the content to students need in the final part of the course.
All required coursework must be completed and approved by the given deadline for the student to take the exam. If the coursework requirements have not been approved, the student will be given one extra opportunity to submit an improved version by a given deadline.

Assessment
The exam in the course is a course paper. The paper can be written individually, or in groups of 2 or 3 students. The scope of the paper depends on the number of authors. Individual papers have a scope of 10-15 pages, if two authors the scope is 13-20 pages, and if three the scope is 17-23 pages. For all variants front page, table of content and list of references comes in addition. Font and font size: Arial/Calibri 12 points. Line spacing: 1.5.
The exam can be answered in English or in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Danish, Swedish).
Students awarded a fail grade are given one opportunity to submit an improved version of the assignment for assessment.

Permitted exam materials and equipment
All aids are permitted, as long as the student follows the rules for examinations, source use and referencing, and OsloMet's guidelines for using artificial intelligence (AI) in student assignments.

Examiners
The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner.
At least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.
