Teaching and learning methods

Spanish 2 is a Blended Learning course with digital learning combined with three periods of campus training in Oslo and two at the University of Valencia (Spain). Spanish Language and Culture is structured in an initial face-to-face week in Spain, and online training, with regular online classes, and an intermediate face-to-face period (1-3 days) in Norway.

It will be a communicative approach in the course, giving priority to the acquisition of skills in the teaching of Spanish as a Second Language, and a mixed methodology (classroom and online) will be employed through the creation of a virtual space in a networked platform. In this way, tasks and assessments will be carried out from different methodological approaches that students can subsequently apply in their daily teaching.

Course requirements

The following coursework requirements must be approved before the student can take the exam:

  1. 80 % attendance and participation in face-to-face weeks and online sessions.
  2. Presentation of a digital portfolio that includes the following oral and written tasks

    1. Oral presentation in group of a grammatical issue for the defined target group (10 minutes)
    2. Oral presentation in group of a cultural aspect for the defined target group (15 minutes)
    3. Online grammar test
    4. Individual written assignment on an authentic text from the course curriculum (1000 words +/- 10 %)
    5. Individual reflection note on own practice of language teaching (350-500 words)
    6. Individual creation and elaboration of one audiovisual document to assess progress and skills.

The coursework requirements may be revised once if the first version is not approved. See point 8 in the programme description for more information about coursework requirements.

Assessment

For the final assessment, the student elaborates two works based on parts 2d and 2f of the digital portfolio. The task 2d must be between 2000 and 3000 words and the task 2f must be between 4-6 minutes.

The exam is in Spanish.

New/postponed exam

The resit/rescheduled exam is organised in the same way as the ordinary exam.
