Course history

Introduction

The course deals with main areas of quality of life research relating to children, young people and adults. This forms the basis for using quality of life instruments or qualitative methods of assessing and documenting patients¿ problem areas, in cooperation with patients and when evaluating the effect of implemented measures. The topics included in the course are theoretical models that form the basis for the quality of life concept, contextual and cultural frameworks, the quality of life concept at group and individual levels, and different methodological approaches to evaluating quality of life, both in clinical training and in research.

Course requirements

The following must have been approved in order for a student to be permitted to take the exam:

Assignment: Quality of life.

  • Written assignment in groups of 3-4 students.
  • Scope: 1,500 words (+/- 10%)
  • Oral presentation of the assignment to fellow students and lecturer(s).
  • Oral feedback from fellow students.
  • Oral feedback from lecturer(s).

Documentation of literature selected by the student: 350 pages

Assessment

Individual written home exam over 3 days.

Scope: 2,500 words (+/- 10%).

Permitted exam materials and equipment

All aids are permitted, as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.

Examiners

All exam papers are assessed by two examiners. An external examiner will grade 20% of the exam papers. The external examiner¿s assessment shall benefit all students.
