MAPD5100 Strategies in Product Communication Course description

Admission to the Master's programme.

On successful completion of this course students are able to:

• use concept mapping to develop an idea into a sustainable product concept
• derive criteria from concepts that are relevant for construction and material choice
• display a willingness to collaborate with external partners
• work as a member of a team to achieve common
• participate in classroom discussions
• manipulate materials skilfully through safe and effective operation of machines and other technical production methods
• construct and refine models, components and products

• Concept development

• Transformation of concepts to physical form

• Product semantics

• Material and visual communication

• Form giving processes

• CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility

The most important teaching and learning methods for this course are individual work, group work, lectures, discussions, tutorials and studio courses.

• One written assignment

• One group presentation

Individual or group[1] portfolio examination. The portfolio consists of:

• a written assignment describing the product concept
• design process documentation
• a reflection paper

The examination result can be appealed against.

A grading scale of A (highest) to F (lowest) where A to E is a pass grade and F is a fail grade.
