After completing the course, the student is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:

Knowledge:

The student

  • has in-depth knowledge of different anaesthetics and their uses, effects and side-effects
  • has in-depth knowledge of all common anaesthesia forms and techniques
  • has in-depth knowledge of special circumstances relating to different surgical procedures that have a bearing on the choice and application of different anaesthesia forms, techniques and drugs
  • has in-depth knowledge of characteristics of particular patient groups that have implications for the choice and administration of anaesthetics
  • has in-depth knowledge of trauma mechanisms, trauma scoring, triage and transport of trauma patients

Skills:

The student

  • is capable of analysing and taking a critical approach to existing theories and methods in nurse anaesthesiology
  • is capable of analysing and taking a critical approach to theories on the link between illness/injury and the choice of anaesthetics and anaesthesia methods

Supervised individual written exam, 6 hours.

All answer papers are assessed by two examiners, one of whom must be external.
