Introduction
Through work with the literature and the course work, the student should be able to choose and design methods for electronic assessment that is adapted to the group of students and content at hand. The tuition is in English if English speaking students attend the course.

Learning outcomes
Students should achieve an overview over the methodology of participation in the planning, design and implementation of new and changed digital systems. They should, through work with the course literature and the participative development project, obtain ability to initiate, organize and perform participatory design projects.
Further, the course provides competence to teach in the main theme Nettsteder og multimedier in the programme topic Informasjonsteknologi 1 and the main theme Planlegging og dokumentasjon in the programme topic Informasjonsteknologi 2 in the Norwegian secondary school.
The tuition is in English if English speaking students attend the course.

Teaching and learning methods
The course is totally net based. Literature will be presented and discussed in a chosen discussion forum. Students are supposed to take active part in these discussions. Theories from the literature are to be applied in students¿ evaluation of technologies and methods of assessment.

Assessment
The students will be assessed according to a digital portfolio consisting of two elements:
- Presentation of a revised version of one of the course work requirements 1, 2 or 3, including your own comments on strengths and weaknesses. Length of presentation varies according to the chosen course work requirement (see above).
- An essay (about 2250 words +/- 10 %) discussing a self-defined research question within the field of e-assessment. The essay should employ at least two of the theoretical approaches presented in this course literature, and discuss the research questions according to these approaches.
New/postponed exam will be organized in the same way as the ordinary exam. A revised version of the portfolio can be submitted.

Permitted exam materials and equipment
The course is fully net based. The course methodology is project work and action research. The students will carry out a development project in their own environment and in collaboration with users. Regular group tutoring and moderated peer discussions will be organised on the different topics of the course. Reflection and discussion about the projects will focus on the participative aspects of the projects.

Grading scale
See general rules in the programme plan. Students must have the following course work requirements approved before examination. The course work requirements are organized around the project, as three individual deliveries linked to three iterations in an action research:
- Delivery 1: A sketch of the system, including a definition of the project goal, a description of user groups and user participants, and a brief description of the future system, (300-600 words)
- Delivery 2: Detailed design, including a description and evaluation of the choice of description techniques and design tools, and a description of needs and proposed solutions (450-750 words)
- Delivery 3: System prototype: a running application, accessible for co-students and supervisors

Examiners
The exam is an individual written report from the project, according to given criteria. Length: 3750 words +/- 10 %.
New/postponed exam
New/postponed exam will be organized in the same way as the ordinary exam. A revised report can be submitted.
