Course history

Introduction

Det benyttes en intern og en ekstern sensor til sensurering av oppgavene. Et uttrekk på 25 prosent av besvarelsene sensureres av ekstern sensor. Karakterene på de besvarelsene som er vurdert av ekstern sensor, danner grunnlag for å fastsette nivå på besvarelsene innenfor de ulike karakteruttrykkene. Intern sensor skal ta hensyn til ekstern sensors vurdering ved sensurering av alle eksamensoppgaver.

Required preliminary courses

The student must have been admitted to the Master’s Degree Programme in Health Sciences - Specialisation in Public Health Nursing.

After completing the course, the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student

  • can critically assess theories in health promotion and prevention at the population, group and individual level
  • can discuss the public health nurse’s functions and areas of responsibility and identify the profession’s role in society
  • can assess knowledge about the administrative level and decision-making processes in society that are of relevance to professional practice
  • can analyse the significance of different cultures in health promotion and prevention work

Skills

The student

  • can plan and critically assess professional practice from a public health perspective
  • can apply relevant theories and methods in health promotion and prevention work
  • can identify and apply relevant knowledge

General competence

  • can apply knowledge and skills to analyse factors in society that influence public health
  • can analyse and assess quality assurance in health promotion and prevention work
  • can apply and assess ethical perspectives as the basis for critical reflection in professional practice
  • can apply relevant laws, regulations, guidelines and guides

Teaching and learning methods

The course will use varied, student-active work methods. Work and teaching methods used in the course include lectures, oral and written assignments with presentations (individually and in groups), seminars, skills training and self-study.

Course requirements

The following must have been approved in order for the student to take the examination:

  • minimum attendance of 80% at skills training, seminars and scheduled group work
  • a written assignment of up to 1,500 words in groups of up to five students, with an oral presentation of the assignment

Assessment

Supervised individual written examination, four hours.

Grading scale

Grade scale A-F.

Examiners

All examinations are assessed by two internal examiners. An external supervisor will assess the thematic content and the assessment guide in advance.
