Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The student:

  • has knowledge of how social, socio-economic and health-related challenges have consequences for the individual and next-of-kin 
  • has knowledge of social problems that apply to the groups of clients at the practical training establishment 
  • has knowledge of the organisation of the practical training establishment and relevant collaborative agencies and other services in the city district/municipality
  • has knowledge of relevant social policy and legal authority relating to the tasks at the practical training establishment
  • has knowledge of how social work is carried out at the practical training establishment and relevant collaborative institutions
  • is familiar with what characterises interprofessional cooperation in the practical training establishment 

Skills

The student:

  • can apply different theoretical perspectives in social work with users at the practical training establishment 
  • can apply different methodological approaches at their practical training establishment.
  • can use their communication skills when interacting with individuals
  • can use the digital tools in operation at the practical training establishment
  • can use critical reflection on their own practice 

General competence

The student:

  • has insight in different people’s living conditions and social vulnerability when interacting with the practical training establishment’s users 
  • has insight into how power manifests itself in interactions between the practical training establishment and the users 
  • is familiar with the importance of digital communication in professional practice and interaction
  • has increased awareness of their own understanding of social problems and situations
  • can reflect on their own attitudes and ethical issues relating to the values and practice of social work

Teaching and learning methods

There will be lectures and seminars in this subject.

The student follows the practice site's work routines and working hours, and must have study days throughout the practice period.

The student receives weekly guidance from the supervisor. The guidance can be given both individually and in groups.

Course requirements

The following required coursework/compulsory activities must have been approved in order for the student to take the exam:

1. Practice. The Practice supervisor recommends the internship approved or not approved. Final approval is given by the education department. There is a requirement for 80% attendance at the practice location. Approval of practice is regulated by the practice regulations:

2. Compulsory participation in practice preparatory seminar and midthorugh seminar, with possible absence of up to 1 day. Absence of more than 1 day triggers compensatory work requirements. The extent of the work requirement will increase with the extent of the absence. Failure to submit work requirements results in loss of the right to take the exam.

3. One written work requirement; learning contract

If the written work requirement is not approved, the opportunity is given to be able to deliver the revised version once, within the specified deadline.

4. INTERACT - INTER1100

The following required coursework must be approved:

Students must submit an individual log. Scope: 500 words (+/- 10%). The log requires participation at the two-day seminar. An individual assignment may compensate for absence.

Compulsory activities and coursework requirements must be completed and approved by the given deadline in order for the student to take the exam.

Assessment

The exam is an individual written practical training assignment with a scope of 8-10 pages. Font and font size: Calibri 12-point. Line spacing 1.5. The approved citation style APA for assignments must be complied with. Candidates who fail the practical training assignment can submit a reworked version as a resit exam once. Candidates who fail twice must submit a new assignment.

Any resit or rescheduled exams will be organised in the following semester.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

All aids are permitted as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.

Examiners

All exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner.
