Introduction
The fourth semester of the Bachelor’s programme opens for international student exchange.
This programme option provides insight into contemporary art in relation to context and dissemination.
The course focuses on the development of students’ practical artistic approach, dissemination and theoretical skills. The practical artistic approach is combined with art and dissemination theory and dissemination in practice. The course is organised in the form of two projects and concludes with an exam.

Learning outcomes
Privacy by Design is a fundamental requirement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for all systems operating on personal information. This course provides an introduction to privacy and data protection including the legislation such as the GDPR, privacy enhancing technologies, privacy management, designing for privacy, and privacy patterns in software design. It enables the students to understand regulation, to identify privacy risk and consequences of data breaches, introduces them to privacy controls and builds skills in their application in a structured privacy engineering process.
Content
Project 1: Art, space and installation (individual work). The project involves a practical artistic approach and emphasizes the relationship between concept, context and material. The student will develop critical awareness of their own artistic expression. The project includes a basic introduction to materials and environmental issues.
Project 2: Dissemination of art in practice (group work). In this project the students work with dissemination in practice and emphasizes the relationship between art, context and viewer.
The course ends with an individual exam.
Teaching and learning methods
The course is organised as practical work and theoretical studies. Working with projects is emphasised. This includes both basic training and working with topics chosen by the students themselves. Students are required to attend workshops and to participate in tuition. The teaching methods used in the course are lectures, seminars, supervision and debates. Students are expected to find relevant reading material. Joint presentations and exhibitions will form the basis for discussion and assessment of students’ work.
Course requirements
Project 1: Art, space and installation (individual work):
- A work of installation art
- A reflection text (750 words +/- 10%).
Project 2: Dissemination of art in practice (group work):
- A group report (the number of words depends on the project and will be specified in the project assignment).
- An oral and visual group presentation.
The coursework requirements are assessed as approved/not approved.
In order to take the exam, the student's absence must not have exceeded 20%.
Assessment
The exam project is individual and comprises the following two interrelated parts
1. A three-dimensional work of art
2. A reflection text (1200 words +/- 10%)
The exam counts for 100% of the grade given.
The exam result can be appealed.
Permitted exam materials and equipment
The following required coursework must be approved before the student can take the exam:
One group assignment (2-5 students appointed by teacher) consisting two parts: a report and a presentation.
Grading scale
Individual written digital exam, 3 hours. The exam result can be appealed.
New/postponed exam: In case of failed exam or legal absence, the student may apply for a new or postponed exam. New or postponed exams are offered within a reasonable time span following the regular exam. The student is responsible for registering for a new/postponed exam within the time limits set by OsloMet. The Regulations for new or postponed examinations are available in Regulations relating to studies and examinations at OsloMet.
