Introduction
The practical training course gives the students experience in examining the body, movement and function, in addition to making clinical diagnoses, assessing indications for interventions, as well as carrying out and evaluating these. Knowledge from previous courses is integrated to ensure a connection between theoretical learning and practice. Students will gain experience in identifying and dealing with more complex situations and assess the need for further referrals. User participation and SDM are key principles in this practical training course, and the student is expected to be able to participate in professional discussions and interprofessional collaboration.
-
Required preliminary courses
The student can only remain with one failed course from the first year of study.
-
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student has the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
Knowledge
The student have
- broad knowledge of how aging and health conditions can affect function and health.
- knowledge of the individual's right to autonomy, user participation and shared decision-making
- knowledge of the prerequisites that form the basis for good communication.

- apply summarised research and clinical experience, while taking user involvement into account in decision making
- apply digital technology that promotes communication and interaction
- participate in professional discussions and interprofessional collaboration

The student can
- reflect on the user and patient's overall situation, as well as adapt measures to different contexts

Teaching and learning methods
The work and teaching methods in the course include external supervised practice, group seminars, and self-study. The practical training will take place over a continuous period of six (6) weeks, where the student is in practical training five (5) days a week with a workload of approx. 40-45 hours per week. Clinical practice is carried out in various arenas where physiotherapists are active.
-
Course requirements
The following must have been approved in order for the student to take the exam:
- Minimum 90 % attendance in practical training
- Participation and presentation in digital seminars, individually or in groups
-
Assessment
Assessed practical training: The assessment is based on the learning outcomes for the course, and the ongoing assessment made by the student throughout the practical training period. In order to be able to assess the student in practical training, sufficient attendance (90 %) is required. For more information about attendance requirements in practical training, see 'assessment of practical training' in the main part of the programme.
Resit assessment: Students who fail a period of practical training normally have to retake the whole practical training period.
