Introduction
Studentene skal gjennom dette emnet etablere en forståelse for journalistiske bilders egenskaper. Emnet belyser forholdet mellom bilders egenskaper og menneskets visuelle persepsjon og kultur. I tillegg ser emnet på hvilke krav som stilles til journalistiske bilder utfra journalistikkens krav om sannferdighet. Studentene lærer å analysere bilder i journalistikken med et begrepsapparat som gir mening i en arbeidssituasjon.
Required preliminary courses
This master's degree course offers theoretical depth in literature mediation in three sessions that together focus on the what, how and why of dissemination. Central questions are:
What is the social basis for mediation in different institutional contexts, what are the core values of mediating literature and culture, and how does the mediation take place?
The language of the course is Norwegian.

Teaching and learning methods
After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
The student
- developed his repertoir knowledge
- has insight into mediation theory and method
- has insight into the public library's democratic mandate and the aesthetic, ethical and political challenges related to what is mediated, how, why, and to whom
- has advanced knowledge of the potential og literry mediationn and it's institutional preconditions

- reading literature critically with a differing look for its differnet qualities and values
- analysing and critically evaluating different mediation practices
- discussing and reflecting on what mediation is and how literature can be applied in different context with varying intentions

- has embettered his capacity to articulate his own experiences
Course requirements
The teaching methods are seminars, lectures and student presentations The students will work individually on three assignments of their choice within the topics of the course.
Assessment
The following coursework requirements must have been approved in order for the student to take the exam:
- In the last session, the students will present and discuss drafts for assignments
- All students will be given the task of acting as opponents for one of the other students' drafts.
All required coursework must be completed and approved by the given deadline in order for the student to take the exam.
Permitted exam materials and equipment
The form of assessment is a individual portfolio. The portfolio consists of one articles of approximately eight pages , and a report of approximately eight pages containing an assessment of a mediation event (individual or group work). Individual grades are not given for the different parts of the portfolio. Font and font size: Arial/Calibri 12 points. Line spacing: 1.5.
If a fail grade is awarded, all parts of the portfolio must be resubmitted. Students awarded a fail grade are given one opportunity to submit an improved version of the portfolio once for assessment.
Grading scale
All aids are permitted, as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.
Examiners
Grade scale A-F.
Admission requirements
All exam papers are graded by one internal and one external examiner.
